equipment maintenance over the holidays
« on: December 24, 2019, 10:42:08 am »
i expect most of us will enjoy xmas day and a few other days over the xmas period but there will come a time in the next few weeks where we will grow tired  of the festivities and look towards to the fresh new year and back to work......

so what maintenance (if any)will you be doing over the holidays?

1.ill be cleaning out poles and spraying with PTFE spray
2.wd40 on ladder clamps,padlocks,connectors,etc....
3.tidy/clean my van including glove box
4.topping up the anti freeze coolant on my diesel heater, tightening any loose connections,etc.....
5.checking and oiling the chain on my electric reel, tighten connections.

ive already downloaded worksheets to my phone for the week commencing 6th jan and sorted  my jan schedule for the whole month into comfortable work days..... ;D

ive just realised ill need to get my van MOT d for the first time before the end of jan too......
price higher/work harder!

Hi dazmond, a very Happy Christmas to you & family,  on your Grippa heater coolant tank, how do you Know how much coolant
to put in,  on mine when cold, the coolant level is just below the hole in the tank wall, should it be filled above this, sorry for silly question, and what antifreeze do you use. cheers dazmond.

the coolant in my header tank was around 3/4 full when i first had it fitted....its dropped a little bit since then, ill use the same pink coolant as the original(any pink coolant will do)the difference between pink and blue is the pink is long life....you shouldnt mix the two.......

all the best to you too mate...... :)

Few business and van related tasks to do.

Off the top of my head stuff needs sorting..

Touch up a few areas of paint in the back
Make an electric reel
Bolt my reels in better
Fix the earth to my charging controllers
Fix pole rack, cable ties have snapped
Full Interior valet
Fill with screen wash
Big dent on back Im going to attempt to pull out
Get all contact numbers from Facebook customers
Update all my book keeping and get receipts in order
Send out all debt letters that I've piled up

There's probably lots more I've wrote a big list down over the last few weeks   ;D

I've saved them up from the beginning of the year.

I have about 20 to send I just decided to send them all at Christmas.

I've put a big "merry Christmas" on the envelopes.  :D.

It's probably Down to how you pick up work.

All my customers these days come from facebook, I get ripped off every month.

But I don't go knocking for it, send a few reminders and then remove them and add to the debt letter pile.

I don't expect to recover it all but if I can get some of it at least...

If you run a Grippa system, then there is a crease mark on the coolant bottle about 3" from the top of the coolant bottle. Fill up to this point!

For your heater to work properly you must have at least an inch or 2 of coolant in the tank,I check mine from time to time as when I first got it it was leaking slightly the odd drip over the pipes below.

I might wash my van, but really if you keep things simple and uncluttered anyhow, what else is there to do.? Clean a pole, purify a tank of water and charge a battery.
