Univalve is amazing next step tubeless what is it?
« on: December 11, 2019, 07:41:27 pm »
Ok what is tubeless and how does it implement the univalve is there a really good YouTube video I can watch? I take it it's not about the hose reel going up the pole because that will make the pole very heavy correct?.
Although we're saving water and I've noticed a big difference already and as good as the univalve is the rigid blue tubing is annoying and is time consuming.

Someone was selling a kit for £13 on eBay from this site the local shop sells it for about £30 I would like to know what that kit is exactly what does it do?
I am hoping to learn about the tubeless option
Hope someone can help
Cheers!.

You connect your pole hose to the microbore on your hose reels and that goes up inside the pole

In the usual setup you need to have at least as much hose attached to your pole as the length of the pole fully extended plus a bit extra. Therefore when you store your pole on the van you have all that hose still attached to it and it can get quite messy. Going tubeless means having a connection in the hose at the base of the pole so that when you store your pole the only hose in it is the short piece in the top section. Makes things much easier when tidying away and helps with untwisting tangled hoses. It also works fine with the Univalve

Can't quite make sense of it from the picture thanks for showing us. So the blue pipe just goes into the hose reel.?

The blue hose is pole hose that’s attached to the microbore on the end of the pole hose is an ejector Sleeve from exceed Inovation that attaches to the fixed hose inside the top section of the pole , difficult to try and describe .

Ive came across a so/so vid which may explain it for you.
https://youtu.be/XXf_uaRK6o4

Oh, its my vid by the way which i did some time back.
I use john guest fittings and that seems ok on the pole which i use the uni valve on (which happens to be the facelift pole in the vid).  I use a stiff rhino hose designed for the univalve as it doesnt stretch as much as the usual pole hose.   However this is not my every day pole as I use this for my trolley. So day in/day out with a john guest fitting may or may not work. Its fine for what I use.
The main kit is called the "slick connect" but to me it seems chunky,

Hi yes the video does help so basically that's what it i?. So cut the blue hose short and buy this orange hose? When you tug on the Orange hose won't that connector sometimes fall apart to activate the univalve?

The "slick connect" is basically a connection joining two hoses.  So it doesnt have to be different hoses etc.  So you have your normal pole hose and just cut that at the end of your pole and fit the first part of the connector and on the other piece of your hose, fit the 2nd part of the connector.
I believe its a stronger fit than say a rectus fitting.

I’ve used Univalves since they were released to us.  The last three years I’ve run my system tubeless as well.(Misnomer I know but HeyHo) The last two years I’ve used the 8mm straight John Guest fitting at the base of the pole and have had no issues with the Univalve that I didn’t also experience with other fittings.  If it’s come apart it’s because I’ve pulled too hard. Before I switched to them I used Ezsnap/Rectus 21 fittings and I occasionally pulled the hose off them pulling too hard as well.  If you use hot water I’d recommend using JG barbed hose ends as these will be gripped better in the connector.  JGs are not waterstop connectors like the Ezsnap but this has never been a problem for me
