Additives?? 🤪
« on: November 28, 2019, 04:30:43 pm »
Personally, I tried Vision and then I had some GG3 left over so put a few cc in my tank with which to experiment.
I didn't find a downside, personally. But I didn't see any major difference apart from maybe, a bit more of a shine on the glass.
I don't use any additives now.
But out of interest, do any of you continue to use additives in your water? Why so?What are they?
I'm not asking  so that I can bad mouth it. I'm just interested.
I know what Sean thinks lol  :D

Stopped using Vision about 18 months- 2 years ago,it still comes out the brush on a daily basis the whole tank is coated in it if you take the lid off you can smell it like it was put in that morning.
When the water gets lower towards the bottom of the tank it bubbles more than when full,I’m actually going to get a 2 foot pole from the pets shop that sells fish they do a pole with a sponge on the end I’m going to try giving it a clean.

Wow, I didn't realise it coated the tank to such an extent!!
I've got a bigger tank since using  Vision so haven't had that problem.

When you stop using it you’ll see it clings to everything

I played around with Gg4 and tried Vision, both had similar results, basically bubbles and slightly better sheeting. The Vision turned into a gloopy mess in the bottle so never used it again. Just pure water now.

I have ben using added sparkle for about 6 months …
I thought that initialy when I tried it, that it would be snake oil.
however, I find it is better for getting off bird poo, and snail trails.
I am a big fan of it, and will continue to use it

Yeah I found it to have some benefits when I used it too tbh,I tried it with cold and I would say it certainly did help with cold water for bird poo etc.
I use hot water so any benefit I did get with cold and an additive I get with hot alone so I knocked it on the head in the end,the thing I did find with it though is no matter how small the amount is that you use it accumulates over time,it completely cloked up a pump when I took off the side fittings and looked inside because the flow was compromised it was full of bubbles and white gunk, that was enough for me then.

I tried two versions of Vision due to the reported experiences of fellow windies. Better sheeting, more sparkle on the windows, whiter UPVC etc.

I didn't get problems with it clogging my system as I use a trolley and 25L barrels and I always got excellent mixing as I put it in each barrel before I filled them.

However, I just didn't get the results everyone else said they were getting. I don't know why, but pretty much all I experienced were a few bubbles and a pleasant smell which like another poster said stuck around ages after I stopped using it. It did not make the UPVC frames any whiter or make any appreciable difference to my cleaning, either of the windows or the frames.

I get the idea of trying to make a good thing even better but so far I've found it hard to beat Pure water, a good brush and a good flow rate. I'm currently loving the Xtreme flocked sill brush from Gardiners. It's been great on snail trails.

The trouble with it is that it doesn’t completely go or dissolve from the tank, like i day mine is still having an effect well over a year later.

Basically vision.

I used to be involved in the company (haven’t been for a good few years now) and helped set it up, so now I use a version that is custom to my needs and works best with hot water.

Jonny needs both hot water and a snake oil to get the same results that I can get with cold which is quick cleaning and no complaints from customers, that said as he hasn't started to use parts per billion water yet then he's far from the worse when it comes to faffing.
Some people can ride a bike without stabilisers and some cant, its as simple as that.

To be fair I'm not a great fan of gg4 even for trad cleaning, I tend to get a lot of squeegee judder when using it.

You will never get as good a result with cold over hot you know that,I’ve done jobs this week that would have never come up anywhere near as good with cold. Spiders webs all over the frames etc the Vision does shift bird poo and does dry  off quicker
on the glass.

I’m happy with my pure hot water myself but I’m very interested to know what’s in these additives, is there anywhere you can see what chems etc they have in them?

Don't talk nonsense, fact is I have never lost a single customer because of a poor clean and neither did Dazmond, you or anybody else who used cold for years, the only thing it could do is make the clean quicker, I don't know about you but the only way I could spend less time on the glass is to miss parts of it.
Like I have always said if you're overcleaning and an additive or hot gives you the confidence to go a little quicker then it may be money well spent but don't be under the illusion that we all need it.
