camera for gutter vac
« on: November 11, 2019, 01:52:54 pm »
Hi. I used to have a camera for use with the vac but it was wired and a bit of a pain to use. Lost it and don't want the same again. Can anyone recommend a decent value camera? Cheers.

I use a GoPro Hero3 , very versatile. I’ve had it for quite a few years.
It connects Bluetooth WiFi to your phone. You can take pics or video the cleaned gutter with it.
You can also use it for everyday filming with family and adventures. :D

I have a camera and monitor for sale, same as the one they sell with sky vacs.

Cheers guys. I bought a cheaper action camera off Amazon yesterday.  Great reviews so will see what it's like later this week.

Hello Tom

May I ask what camera off Amazon?

Do you fix to vac tubing/how?

Also what gutter vac system have you got?

Sorry for all the questions 🤥😁

Keep thinking 🤔 about getting a gutter vac

But don’t like the idea of ladders if downpipe is blocked.

What’s your experience, is it ladderless
Thanks
Lee

Hi Lee
I bought AKASO EK7000 4K Sport Action camers about £45.
I will use it clipped to another pole facing the gutter run. This way you can get a better view of what is going on than if the camera is on the gutter vac pole/attachment.
I have the Polarvac. 80 litre wet and dry machine with six carbon fibre poles and assorted tools.
I am ok on ladders and don't mind nipping up when required. Had to do it last night as the weeds had taken over and grown under the tiles and flashing etc. With blocked downspouts you can fit a longer, narrower bit of pipe into the standard tool which fits down the downspout. Very effective and works almost every time. Big root balls, up to two feet long come out the downspout in a very satisfying fashion.
I do a fair number of them. Once you have the kit you automatically target those jobs. I did some student accommodation last week. Ten, four storey old houses all together in Manchester. Cleared the gutters, downspouts and drains with it. Some builders were working on part of the roof and were amazed at how effective it was. {Dumped the lot into their skip}.
When you are out tomorrow, take a look at the gutters.  Loads of overgrown gutters around and this wet weather exposes them to the home owner.

Thanks very much for all the info Tom👍

Your vac is from polarbrite I take it.
There website is under maintenance
So can’t view at the moment.

I take it you just plug into customers electric?

Generators don’t stay on vans long I’ve heard 🙆🏻‍♂️

Like your idea of camera on separate
Pole facing gutter run being vac’d 👍

Sounds like your getting a fair bit of gutter work 👍

Yeh you do see some lawns growing out of gutters 😁

Pointed out to a customer this time last year that part of there guttering had a lawn in it
Worded a bit better 😁

He told me gutters were all good as he had just cleared them all

Must of been a mirage 😳

I bet you can still get some gutter jobs even in summer

July can have some cracking thunderstorms
Exposing them blocked downpipes 😁

Stay busy 😊
