Hi fellow window cleaners

I’m struggling a bit with risk assessment.  I’ve used them before but not for a long time I have a job which I have had for some years but they have changed the company that manages the building so now asking for risk assesments. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately there is no risk assessment anyone has that you can copy. No 2 jobs are the same.

The risk assessment they want is for you to identify the risks involved to you and others when you carry out the work. You need to identify how great the risk is and how you will minimise that risk.

For example; the job you are doing may be on the High Street.  One factor of risk will be to pedestrians with regard to hoses being a trip hazard and another of falling objects whether working WFP or traditionally.

You need to identify the severity of that risk. In other words, is there a possibility that something go wrong and a pedestrian gets injured. If yes, then what is the severity of that on a scale of 0 to 5, zero being no risk to 5 being a very high risk situation - abort.

You need to record that risk and how you plan to reduce it or overcome it.
For example; you might need to do the job early in the morning when no one is around. You need to put out warning signs, demarcate a no go pedestrian area and include a banksman to  keep a safe working environment for the public.
