We usually clean conny roofs with just pure water but I think we're making hard work of it. I hate them but feel obliged to do them when asked. Am thinking of trying TFR or similar. I bought a cheap garden sprayer on Amazon as don't want to use our Gardiner backpacks really due to rinsing out.  Have just always been concerned of stories of the upvc plastic turning yellow if it's not rinsed off in time. Am also finally going to connect up to customer's hose pipe for a better flow rate. Then final rinse with pure.

Any tips or recommendations anyone?

Yes mate TFR in a garden sprayer dilute it down with water you will have no probs with the yellowing of the frames and it's not like it's going to be on for a long time and a thorough clean and rinse off it will be fine  , I tend to use my old brushes on jobs like that because they take some stick plus it saves on not contaminating my brush heads I use for the window cleaning , hope I've helped

No Problems with using TFR

buy a cheap 'backpack' off eBay for £60 and set it up to work off your pole you can then scrub TFR as you go - really improves the time and effort it takes for cleaning (not that it takes much to rinse lout a gardeners backpack)

Mix to the recommended dosage on the label, don’t be tempted to make a stronger mix - it will stain. Also don’t let it run off into the custies water butt (pull the diverter pipe off).

personally i use a gardiner V3 backpack and fill it with some diluted virosol,attach to my pole,spray on then switch back to my hot pure water and scrub and rinse away.......job done....

i did use a cheap hand pump sprayer at one time but prefer using the backpack as its better for applying the chemicals to the areas i want to get to(upper fascias/soffits and roof finials,etc)

i just use a normal 2mm pencil jet brush for applying chemicals mate because if you use fan jets itll blow about everywhere as a fine mist  if theres even the slightest breeze....not good....you dont want it in your eyes....

I wouldn’t use tfr on anything , I permanently damaged the glass and plastics on one 15 years ago it wasn’t the caustic one either , it was diluted 20-1 sprayed it all over and in some places it dried out in others it didn’t , on the glass it left a yellow raised surface looked like varnish nothing would remove it , on the plastic exactly the same thing , I had used it in the same way before for a couple of years and never experienced any problems , after that experience I now use Virosol never had a problem and in my opinion it does a better job and is easier to rinse off .

I don’t use any chemicals- just hook up to customers tap with a jet nozzle and spray all the roof , getting any loose bits off and shooting it at the finials . The pressure from a tap beats the pressure from a backpack / van mount hands down. Then once everything is as clean as possible, then give it a final rinse/scrub with your pure

Good stuff for upvc and conservatory roofs.
And a little goes a long way.

As much as I’d like hot water systems in both vans I couldn’t justify the initial outlay or continued running costs. I know you’ll disagree & each to their own.

I use Screwfix No Nonsense Degreaser too, good stuff, i used to use Virosol, but local supplier stopped stocking it.

Virosol for me.

You can let it dry on glass and plastics and it won’t cause an issue, Aslong as it’s not neat. Even then I think I’m most circumstances you’d be ok.

Check for water butt then Virosol with plant sprayer and 45cm brush attached to customers tap. If the panels are clear, (and not opaque), then rinse off with pure and then attach unger pole to unger blade handle (the unger pole locks the blade handle in place) and use long blade to finish.

45cm brush and be methodical.

Spray the virosol and then give two agitations ie, two back and forth movements in sections.

After two agitations, with Virosol, most of the dirt will have gone, so just spot clean as required.

Finally, time how long you are taking, and if the customer is in then ask them to inspect to check they are happy.
