Just moved ro help please
« on: October 30, 2019, 08:45:49 pm »
Hi thanks for reading just moved house I have a van mounted system with a hf4 40 inch ro fitted,at my new house it has just taken four hours to fill 400 l of pure, whilst this is slower than my previous house, would I benefit to having a hf5 ro without a booster pump to increase production or do I need a booster with hf 4 membrane or are the results I'm getting acceptable.
Any advice appreciated

what's your TDS in
what's your TDS out
Whats your water pressure

For a non boosted system that sounds pretty good to me - HF5 will not produce more p/h but will give you lower TDS on the out side

a good booster pump should get you somewhere between 150 and 200 litres p/h - depending on your settings

hi Darren thanks for your reply, can't believe I didn't even think about checking tap tds guess that's because I've lived in my previous house for 12 years and knew my tap tds was around 270, ro is only three months old, don't have a pressure gauge but can tell mains pressure is lower than previous house due to time tank takes to fill and amount of waste water  is slower than previous house will post tap tds  tommorow, going on what you said above its sounds like my last house had good mains pressure,it was an old house this is a new build so probably answering my own questions, will update tommorow

100litres p/h unboosted is actually decent in my opinion, depending on the outgoing tds you’re getting.

I’ve got a boosted hf5 (bought the booster after membrane, will go hf4 next time) goes in at around 300-320, out at around 8, around 150litres p/h.
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

What booster pump do you have?

At 50psi water pressure and 13lpm of flow at the back tap I get 2lpm of pure using an HF5 membrane with no booster pump.

I'm not sure I would be too unhappy about producing 100 liters of pure an hour provided my rejection rate was acceptable.

In your position I would tend to stick with your HF4 membrane as its so new and add a booster pump.

According to Axeon membrane specs an HF5 membrane will produce the same amount of pure water at 80psi an HF4 membrane will at 100psi. At those respective pressures the HF4 will be slightly more efficient.
I'm guessing but these would be under the most ideal inlet water temperatures and water quality - a long way from our individual situations.
