It was suggested this week that to speed up you should cut out certain jobs: through the house, no direct side access, customers that want cleans at certain days/times, jobs below £25.

How have people got on doing this?

It seems to me that it would be easier/more advantageous for the single van business, but is it also the best way to go if you want to grow to 2 or more vans?

I wouldn't take much notice of what other window cleaners say on this matter.its up to you....I have some awkward access jobs BUT they are right next to loads of other jobs I clean so why would I drop them?it doesn't make sense to me......also ANY job is worth cleaning if its priced right(taking account of the extra 5 mins it takes to get ladders off to open a side gate,etc).....if your still hitting a good hourly rate what does it matter anyway?

Also if theres no side access I just clean fronts if it's on a run of jobs and clean backs on request there and then ,some jobs I'll book them in as first job of the day,it varies......👍

I think it’s like Daz said the other day we are all shifting sand in order to get it into the best shape we can,any job I get asked to look at if it doesn’t suit me I won’t take it on you have to learn to say no or you’ll get your work how you want it and within 4-5 years you are back to where you were again doing stuff you don’t really want to be doing.

Exactly NWH if you don't take the ball ache jobs on in the first place you dont have the problem from day one

I agree to a certain  point but on compact work I've had for years then I will  take on a new slightly awkward job right next to other work if it suits me....stand alones are different.....no chance in others words....😂👍

it really comes down to pricing - if you charge a premium for an awkward job then what's the problem, if your charging the same for a longer job as your standard then of course you should be altering the price or dropping it.

the best way to 'spped up' is get as compact as you can - failing that look at the way you arrive at a job, are your slips already filled out? do you return to the van several times ? is your equipment ready to go ?

over the years I've saved more time by refining things like parking where I can unreel and access 4 or 5 properties in one go - having cards ready so I don't go back to the van - even (where possible) extending the pole as I walk unto a property so as I reach my starting post the brush is on the upper window....
Don't stop for unnessarsary breaks

a minute or two off each job ends up saving you between 1/2 to 1 hr a day,  also repartition will make you naturally faster
