Leaf Blowers! Most annoying, and they go on and on, and on.
What the **** is wrong with a rake and a sweeping brush.
It seems no gardening can now take place without an array of horrendously noisy machines.
And it seems to take a hell of a lot longer.

Do you think it's muscle related or sound/loudness damage?

Before we bought the house we're in we looked at a better much older 1920's sandstone fronted house round the corner but the neighbor had these deterrents everywhere and the sales man was like what noise ???
I thought he was taking the p and just trying to get the sale done as it needed done up but unknown to me at the time not everyone hears it.
It seems to travel down into my jaw, if I get any customers with I'll need to send the worker as he can't hear it.

Mine started after an ear infection 18 months ago and has ramped up to the worst it’s ever been today.

I’ve been run down these last few days so I’m hoping it’s related to that and will ease off again.

I couldn’t put mine down to noise damage but I know a lot of people do.

Do you suffer too?

Someone in the distance shouting 'Sorry!' (Irish for 'Oi you!') at me to get me to stop what I'm doing, walk over to them to give them a card, never to hear from them again.

Also the usual dogs barking, alarms, bin men and beer delivery men who crash about with the bins and barrels 2 feet away from you, pneumatic drills, lorries that make that sound like pressurised air being released (don't know what it is though but it grinds my gears).

Agree with the air brake sound.

Just the general noise of a bus is probably one of my most hated sounds. Especially when working not far from a main road.

Yes. I don't think mine is noise damage. There are lots of possible reasons - noise damage, infections, earwax, neck/jaw muscle joint issues. Life stress can also make it worse.

I even saw a specialist about eight years ago - I first noticed mine after a heavy cold and lots of nose-blowing aged about 50 and it's been present pretty much ever since but the specialist did a hearing test which was "good" for my then age and wondered if it had been down to a previous operation where my jaw was forced wide to get inside my mouth or possibly from my neck due to to wfp work.

From time to time it "spikes" but occasionally it disappears altogether for a few hours.

I've had a look at Dr. Internet and there are all sorts of quackery but I do find that neck and jaw muscle exercises under warm/hot shower for fifteen minutes helps but that maybe just me relaxing?

Cleaning a job nice and quiet and at peace with yourself.....then the gardener turns up and starts strimming or cutting the lawn . Causing you to turn your headphones up to headache inducing levels and at the same time watching that he doesn’t cut through your hoses.
In fact it’s annoying having to work at a house with anybody else there at all

Think yourself lucky your not a landscaper,builder,etc....these guys have to put up with noisy machinery all the time, what they do is proper graft not mincing around with a light pole and brush for 5 or 6 hours a day! ;D

That's what I  think when I'm off to my next job away from them down the road.....😛👍

Quite similar to me then really. It’s not nice is it?

Mine started out with an ear infection around 2 years ago, ears never cleared and quickly turned into Eustachian tube disorder. Had tests and stuff which showed 60% hearing loss in right ear with very mild tinittus.

Woke last night to horrific constant ringing in my right ear and it’s still going now.

Have tried the ear popper device, otovent balloon and an ear massager for the last 12 months or so  but no joy yet. 😔

Yeah being anywhere near a pneumatic drill is extremely annoying.

Basically window cleaners are a rare breed, we need:

No noise.

Fair temps.

Customers not in.

If customer is in, a drink to our specification.

No buses/lorries near by.

No Gardeners.

No Dogs.

Preferably no back gates.

No grit, so dry conditions are preferable.

No people walking past saying ‘you missed a bit’/‘are you a window cleaner’.

We’re really quite an easy going bunch.

So your cleaning windows and looking up and then you hear this ‘CRUNCH’ , like you’ve just stepped on a load of Pringles. When you look down, there’s a poor squashed snail 🐌  :'(

I normally listen to a talking book (currently working my way through Spike Milligan's war series), so I don't even like customers approaching me to pay.

I wish they'd just do it on-line.
