I don’t think you are doing anything wrong we sometimes change them weekly !!!!!! They are expensive rubbish but using tubeless there is nothing else that will fit up the pole at the moment 😬😬😬😬 they are airline fittings and not designed fir water especially hot water , even when they are permanently connected to something they can seize causing poor flow and affecting the controller . Come on all you manufacturers make something that works and lasts that will fit up the pole

Is it exceeds kit or DIY?, if exceeds, it uses a connector protector that's supposed to stop premature damage to the fitting when it gets dropped or dragged on floor.

What’s happening to them?
I use a tubeless set up without the protective cover, and the rectus fitting is safe inside the pole when I am working then I take the loose end to the van when reeling in so it’s not dragging on the ground. They last 6-12months. And I buy the genuine Parker brand fittings...

We have tried all brands and have the same issues with them all , worse with hot water , they arnt damaged in any way , they jam open and won’t stop the water flow I now buy them in packs of 50 not cheap !!!!

I had one jam once. I sprayed some WD40 on it and it worked again.

I have used hoseless for years even before the kits came out making my own, I used to find I’d wear through the female rectus 21s dragging them across the floor when reeling in but I ended up buying the exceed kit and just fitted the sleeve and since then I’ve had the same one literally 2 odd years.
Every now and then though I will take the sleeve off and fill a cap full of oil And leave the rectus soaking all night and next morning after wiping off its so smooth clicking on and off as they do tend to get tiny bits of grit in them every now and then!

I haven’t used rectus fittings for ages , complete waste of time & money and aren’t suitable for our job otherwise they wouldn’t break so often. Iv changed fittings to JG fittings and haven’t replaced it since I put it on in January for about £5 on ebay

So what do you connect it to and how do you stop the water flow ??? How do you keep connecting and disconnecting it from the pole ?. They are good fittings but not designed to be taken off 40 times a day , Gardiners sell them for £1 a go I think so much cheaper than eBay , I like the idear of using them but cannot see how it would work unless you have hose tails out of the bottom of the pole then it catches every time you extend it I did try that a few years ago

I have the univalve which works great , the only time I disconnect is if I’m drying some drops of fascias or something like that. I only use 1 pole ( slx 25) for everything.  I chop the pole hose so a little bit is sticking out the bottom of the pole and that’s where I connect the JG fitting, it slightly catches but it’s not an issue tbh. It was more of an issue spending £10 a go on rectus fittings which used to last me a month. I’m really glad I changed over to these fittings
