We’re all different aren’t we. If you don’t want kids it’s a mature decision not to have them. Some people want to but never get the chance.

It really isn’t Daz. I feel sorry for people that have that mindset.

theres a lot more people have kids that really shouldnt have them at all......esp where i live......

I agree Daz, plenty of people that have kids that can’t afford them and can’t provide for them properly. That’s generally what happens in low income areas like where you live.

However there are also plenty of  people, who have kids, can afford them and are more than capable to provide for them and prosper  being part of a family unit.

it looks like i could be a step grandad in the future(hopefully not for a few years yet though) so i might change my views slightly.....

do you turn up on domestics at 8am phil?

i find 930am to 3pm is the sweet spot,..roads are less busy too,although ill be starting at 9am this morning.

are customers not still in bed/cars on the drive at 8am?

Daz I start between 7:30-8am domestic, you clean the houses you know are up or even out early first.

I aim to be in the gym by 2pm and have the shopping done (yes I walk to Tesco everyday for dinner ingredients, live 3 minute walk from a Tesco extra) by 3:30pm. Wife gets home at 4:45pm.

I’d hate to start at 9:30am, I like to be out early and home early, but we’re all different 👍🏼

One benefit of getting up early is my body isn’t tired when I need to be out very early for commercial.

ive still got a full round though....i just condense my work into 5 hour daily segments.......

the studies some people have done on work productivity around europe have found that lots of people can be just as productive working shorter hours than someone working longer hours doing the same work....

obviously it helps having lots of work in the same areas too

That’s not really a full found round then mate.......my workdays are about 8:30am to 5 on average.

I have my months work in a list, takes about 21 full days to clean it.

The first of the month rolls around, I start at the top and work my way down. Some days I might want an early finish, I just pause the work, and pick up the next day.

I’ve never understood the need to crunch the work into set times and days.

Some months I get it all done, but if I don’t, it’s no big deal. The customers don’t even notice a week or so difference.

are you having to work 830am-5pm jonny because your work is scattered here,there and everywhere?i have over 300 jobs in one 2 mile area......so not much driving about so i can crack on and get home.....

No not particularly, some days are better than others. I just have a bout 500 jobs on my monthly round, some large, some small.

Me and my wife work together, I’m full time, she does one or two days a week out in the van with me, and looks after the books.

Ideally I’d like to be down to a 4 day week. That’s the goal really.

I’d hate working everyday but shorter hours, compared to 4 heavier days and one full day off.
Saying that, I quite enjoy my work. Headphones in, podcast on, work till 5 and then head home. Working life could be far worse.

You will seriously realise in a few years that youve made a bad mistake not having kids.
When all you're friends are drug addled or dead and you've got no kids to help you out and go to footy /holdays/gigs etc you'll have to find a 30 year old to give you kids late in life, fat chance

absolutely not mate.....out of 16 guys i used to drink with,8 are dead(late 30s/early 40s),5 are struggling and in a mess and 3 are sober.....

im perfectly fine without kids...ive got my missus with 2 grown up kids and ill probably be a step grandad in a few years.......thatll do me.....

me and the missus love going abroad in 5 star hotels on child free holidays! ....its ace......

i dont go to football matches or gigs very often...if i do i go with the missus or my brothers or bandmates....

Hey Daz,
Never had an issue starting at 8am, try and avoid starting with older customers, young families are always up and about at that time. We like to get started  and finish early if possibe.

Actually the west is heading for de-population, like that of China.

No where near as many people are having kids these days.

Each to there own, but I think most people would say having kids is the greatest joy/most fulfilling thing they’ve done in life.

I’m not sure why you say it’s egotism or desperation, strong words that I doubt have any truth; let’s be real, most people have kids simply because it’s natural and fulfilling.

For people who can’t have kids, that’s obviously an entirely different matter, and I feel for them.

Others choose not to wilfully, and that’s fine 👍🏼

I’ve not had kids, being in recovery like Daz, believe its down to me knowing I couldnt commit emotionally to bringing them up, offering them love, security and a place they know is home and safe whilst in active addiction.

Its probably a huge loss to me. I say probably because now I think my life would be very different if I’d had kids and for the better. Its the most natural thing surely to re-create?

Sometimes I wonder what life will be like in my older years without kids, which seems rather sad to me.

Well this has gone off topic.  it’s interesting though.

We’ve chose to not have kids at the moment.

We’re both in our early thirties so it could still happen, but at the moment we choose not too.

For those of you that are older and don’t have kids, I wouldn’t worry. it isn’t a guarantee for a happy and successful life to have children. There’s people who live next to me that are in the 70’s, onto their second and third marriages and have children but are estranged from them, having nothing to do with each other. The pain of that, almost seems worse than having no kids at all.

I do also feel (as has been mentioned in a few comments) some people seem to have children out of fear of “whose going to look after me when I’m old”. That’s not the right way to think in my opinion.

Then there’s others that think in 50 years time the environment is going to be in such a terrible state that life is going to be incredibly hard, even impossible. That would be our children’s lives. 

Then there’s others who are religious, and don’t just live for now, but have a faith and belief in a happier future world when you could raise kids in a far better environment than we see now. I do often wonder what this worlds gonna be like in 10-20-30 years time.

Everyone is different.

its so liberating not having kids.....its great......

all this talk of being lonely in your old age because you dont have kids it BS.......how many of them grown up kids go and see their dear old mum and dad anyway?once a week?once a month?

what are you gonna do the rest of the week?

most people that are lonely its totally their own fault!........they dont cultivate friendships or have no hobbies or interests.......

ive lived with a few women with young kids many years ago,its overrated.......its enjoyable in some respects but hard work and i cant stand the mess,tantrums and general hassle esp now as i get older....

saying that ill probably will be a step grandad in a few years which will be fun as you can hand them back after a day or two and get on with your child free life again!

im doing my bit trying to save the planet...we dont need any more humans(another 2 billion by 2050!)

Jetting off on 5 star holidays a couple of times a year isn't doing your bit to try and save the planet though is it ?

I do what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it.
Start 9/9.30ish usually till about 4.
In summer though if it's a sunny day and am local I'll drag myself out at 8.30 and aim to be sat in back garden at home with a cuppa by 1.30....no stopping for breaks though.
Winter I take it on a day to day basis.
I don't have my round set in stone, number 27 doesn't get done at 10.30 on a Monday every time it gets done when I get to it and I have no hangups if if I don't get done what I planned....I might think around 2.30 that I've had enough or I might work till 4.30....every day is different.

I start on domestics at 7-50-8 o’clock as a rule,if I started at 9-30 I’d feel I’d lost half a mornings work the time you get going winter or summer.
Someone said to me once an hour earlier in the morning is worth 2-3 in the afternoon,that’s very true if you get cracking in the morning I find the day becomes easier as it goes on 9-30 would is far to late for me I’d get really behind.
Add up all those 1.5 hours Daz you’re losing a days pay a week m8.
