Secondly if he is working via a limited company
he will be able to pay him self whatever he likes
Not many people unless they have a serious surplus go over £50,000. It's likely the other £10,000 is rolled up in the company or his missus when she helps out is paid appropriately.
Everyone's tax situation is different he may not even take much of a salary and mainly pay corporation tax obviously if other income such as property rental profits....
If that profit is self-employed obviously the tax is pretty high but with that sort of profit going limited is definitely the best way to be.
