Thought I was going to really suffer today in this weather , I did ok though , I am drinking a lot more water than I usually do though , maybe it’s not fatigue but dehydration!

good for you mate....yes the usual.....

1.drink a lot more water/fluids(no alcohol!)
2.cap and factor 50 sun cream
3.cool off for 10 mins in the shade if the heats really getting to you(or sit in the van with air con on)
4.eat more fruit.....it makes me feel better anyway.....
5.keep working days short(5 or 6 hours a day)this is my normal "default" work setting anyway year round.... ;)

As I say , I have never been one for drinking water but that changed during that last spell of heat a few weeks ago.
We woke up to the news that one of our mates had dropped dead !
He had been having marital problems that saw him out of the family home and onto the lash , everybody thought he had kicked it but he went out on his on and got hammered , he was found in a park and taken to hospital .
He refused treatment and walked out , he collapsed and died beside the helipad , didn’t even make it off the hospital grounds the poor sod !
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

The beauty of being self employed is that you can choose your own working hours. So on a hot sunny day you can sack your customers off and fall behind because that your right to do so and the joy of being the boss.
Just don't be mardy arses when a customer ask you not to clean as it's not convenient for them that day but no, many get mardy about it as many a tbread on here would suggest.

;D ;D so we have some cleaners on here who don't like to work in the sun, nor the cold and especially not on sunny days............... are they men or mice 😂

It doesn't mean you have to work like a mad man, you can take it steady and wear suitable clothing and sun protection. Drink plenty of liquids, mostly water to hydrate but also some sugars n electrolyte s to be taken into account.

However, who really cares if ones do or don't, it's each person's free will to do or not do

I have to say I prefer working in the cooler weather, today was absolutely baking to work in, felt completely drained when I got back but it’s gotta be done.

I'm clever me. I looked at the weather forecast round here on Friday just gone and as I had a £70 first clean and a £50 first clean I scheduled to meet the new custies today because the forecast was Tuesday 24 Wednesday 31 Thursday 25.

So I thought - take Wednesday off cuz it will be 30 plus.

Of course it ends up being today was 32 and tomorrow forecast 25! And I couldn't move the bookings easily.  ;D ::)roll

But at least I started the £70 at 8 am and finished before the heat built up too high. Sadly the other one was 12 noon start. But I did finish by 1pm.

Generally I like the temperature to be 10 - 20 degrees for working in. 5 - 25 is OK but outside of that I try and start late if cold or finish early if hot.
It's a game of three halves!

Yes I work in it

Do I enjoy burning my head and neck and having my pants stuck up my arse all day whilst sweating like a pig having my energy sapped, eyes burnt in their sockets and generally made to feel a bit Ill.

Not really.

Hotter the better for me. Fill 2 x 2 litre bottles of orange/black currant cordial and freeze overnight, that way you have a frozen drink all day to cool you down.

3 more working days then off to Greece for 3 weeks where hopefully it will be even hotter. 😎

Not really.

Hat, sunglasses and lotion. Go commando and wear shorts  and a loose fitting top.
Plenty of water to keep hydrated, even ice some the night before.
If the vans parked for quite a while, put a screen shield on to keep the sun out, so it's nice n cool ish to take a break in.
Most of those issues solved lol

I appreciate you can do things to cool you down, but its still not a comfortable experience.

Just like in winter, sure you can wrap up but its still bloody freezing!

We do moan about the weather in this country but to be fair as nice as spain etc is for a holiday it would be a nightmare to clean windows in everyday.

Glad i have air con though, thats a life saver.....maybe even literally. God knows how i managed for 3 years without it, makes a huge difference to be able to jump back into a cool van after each job.

no need to burn your head or neck...wear a hat and put factor 50 suncream on your neck, face, arms and legs.....get some combat workwear shorts.....eat fruit and drink a lot of water throughout the day and wear polarised sunglasses and youll be fine......unless you ve got an underlying medical condition(if you have in that case lie down in a kids paddling pool in full work gear(including black trainer socks with a beer!) ;D

He's waiting for the Grippa tank version to be released.
