Booster pump conundrum!!
« on: May 29, 2019, 06:29:39 pm »
Hi, just fitted a booster pump to my 4040 system.  Before 1st use I was getting 1 litre per minute, after fitting 2 to 3 litres(joy!!)
That was short lived however. The 2nd time I used it the water went down to 1 ltr with the pump on.

Any ideas why this should be the case?

Thanks.

Hi Smudger, I went for the one that you recommended from Anglian pumps! The puzzler is how it has changed from the 1st fill to now??

that is strange - no leaks anywhere ??

have you tested the pressure or flow from the pump ?

last week my production dropped off and the impellor inside was shot to hell ( 3 years of constant working ) maybe, just maybe its faulty try running mains only through it then turn the pump on and see if the flow increases  you do have water going in through the front and exiting out the top ?

It might be worth checking your gate valve(waste) setting before everything else. Pure vs waste flow... Just a suggestion.

Hi, Smudger/Martin.   No leaks and piped up correctly!! I have been thinking of the gate valve so will look at that over the weekend as it will be much trial and error and faffing!!!!

Thanks.

Check your actual tap.
I had a problem years ago similar to you, turned out the high pressure damaged my ageing tap. New tap and it was sorted.
Booster pumps need a minimum pressure for them to work properly, if the tap valve can't fully open properly then the pump can't draw enough water to work efficiently.

Another thing to check  on your list should be pre-filter(s). Clogged filters may cause pressure and flow drop. It is elimination process.
