Hey guys,
Recently got my 4040 to system and it works great without a pump.
What parts do I need to make it turn off when my static tank is full, I've seen a lot on pure freedom, but was hoping to source parts and make my own.
Cheers, Gary
Honestly, just buy the kit from PF. You then assured of the right solenoid valve, ie normally closed.
12 years ago I made my own up using a float switch
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/float-switch-230v-2m-cable/and a 230v normally off solenoid valve.
(I can't remember where I bought the solenoid valve from. It was much more expensive than the PF kit. I heard of someone who used a cheap solenoid valve out of an automatic washing machine.)
I supported the float switch on a length of 300 conduit with a connector on each end to pivot the cable on one end and secure the conduit to the roof of the IBC tank.
This allows me to take around 200 - 300 liters of water from the IBC tank before the r/o kicks in.
Its lasted 12 years but honestly, it wasn't worth the chew.
Secondly, I'm told that even although the float switch is the same as is used on a 230v submersible pump, my contraption doesn't fit in with electrical safety standards using 230v under water. This is why manufacturers and suppliers use a lower voltage solenoid valve with a transformer.
I have it covered with rcd protection.
