I’ve lost touch.
« on: May 24, 2019, 11:30:18 am »
Been in this game four twelve years now. Got me wondering ........ what’s the average wage out there now?
When I was in the print trade 35 -40k with stacks of overtime and treble shifts was my income and that was considered a good wage. Any ideas?

If you earn something like £12,000 a year or above, then your in the top 1% of the world.

That’s not the figure your looking for I suppose but it’s interesting.

Figures from the ONS:

Lowest ten per cent   6,760
Second decile group   13,000
Third decile group   17,680
Fourth decile group   22,880
Fifth decile group   28,600
Sixth decile group   34,840
Seventh decile group 42,640
Eighth decile group   52,520
Ninth decile group   66,560
Highest ten per cent   118,560

So if your profit is £28,600, half of all people are earning more than you, half less.
If your profit is £17,680, seven out of ten people earn more than you, three out of ten less.

Data from 2016. Doesn't include retired people. And it's gross household income so includes your other half's earnings (if any) and your other job as a fireman.

Dave assuming you’re talking non window cleaning related wage.

Put it this way, my wife works a good job in the NHS and earns around £26,000 a year. (Essex)

Most of her friends are on similar wages.

Go to London and it’s more like 40-80k a year for a good (ish) job.

It varies massively.

My bro in law is on around 90k in London. One of our best friends is a gym manager in London (virgin gyms) and earns over 100k a year (Bonuses included)

So window cleaners are quite poor on there 40-50k a year 😂

I always think I do quite well, but there is serious money to made in London doing the right job.

At my local gym, there are guys in there that work for Whitehall resources (recruitment) and they earn 1400 a month, but take in 5-7k a month bonuses.  One of them earned 200k in a year and is buying a huge house outright with his mum. (Mummy’s boy) he’s the top recruiter.

Made me feel a bit small when I heard what they earn! And I’m by no means poor!

There is some serious money out there these days. Depends what you do though.

Just looked it up and I may have exaggerated a tad. It looks like it’s somewhere In the £20,000 per year mark to be in the worlds top 1%.

Puts things into perspective though doesn’t it.

it certainly does...most of us in this country are very well off compared to most human beings on the planet but you wouldnt think so with some of the moaning you get from joe public at times....

im happy with a profit of around £30k a year(after expenses, taxes and insurances)for part time hours....no need to be greedy.... :)

Dazmond, I know what you earn - you’ve told everyone weekly on here. The question was more to do with what other people earn 🙄

You know, what a factory worker might consider a good wage, someone in the police force maybe or a shopworker etc.

Daz, when youre in Mekico, ask the locals what they earn. That’ll make for an interesting conversation.
Actually, ask the air-hostesses on the plane what they draw in a week. Then tell them what you earn, hourly. Walk up and down the plane, enquiring what the other punters earn and discreetly tell them what you do for a living and what you earn, hourly.

If you could film it, all the better. Thanks.

regardless of the boasting that goes on this forum with hourly rates £300+ per day etc I would say most window cleaners are poor, not even middle class straight up poor

Regardless of 'financial status', if we are content with what we have, we are rich enough.

For some, all the money in the world would not be enough. Others are just happy to be alive.
