Not got all customers numbers

I’ve only been going just over a month but I’m starting to see I should have gotten all customers numbers to send out messages that I’ll be calling next day (tbh I hate asking them for the number it’s feel intrusive) they all have my leaflet, what I am doing is leaving a note in the door of those who are not in saying “hi we came to clean you’re windows, sorry we missed you, I will call tomorrow at x time, please let me know if this is inconvenient”
Would that be ok or how would you deal with this?

Just get their number. Nobody will care, if they do you probably don't want their custom anyway.

I sometimes make a joke of it..

Could I get a contact number? It's just incase I smash all your windows and there's no one here.

Always get contact details

We ask for Full name & full address

landline, mobile and email

2 forms of contact must be supplied to become a customer!

Ideally we want just mobile and email so I can send payment reminders etc then I have a paper trail  ;)

Issue is 90% of the customers I now have on my books I don’t have their number so if they are not in I have to post a card.
Basically I’m going to have to ask all my existing customers for their numbers (when I can catch them in)

Just post through the door a form requesting up to date contact details, that’s what we have just done! Even tho we had contact details for 99% I was amazed at how many had changed their number and not told us

You really only need their numbers if they have specifically asked you call the night before you clean or if there are any locked gates. Otherwise, if you have agreed to clean on a monthly basis just turn up and crack on. If they are not in leave them a ticket explaining how to pay online or leave an SAE.

The fewer customers you have to notify beforehand the better. It makes things so much easier and more flexible.

Yeah I see what you are saying mate but most of my customers I need to walk through house to get to back or I need them to open the side door

That sounds a nightmare.

 If I have to walk through a customers house once or twice a week it"s enough !

I suppose you get used to it if that's how it has to be.

i give out my business card  and ask the potential customer to text me their name and address at first point of contact so i have their mobile number,if they text me ill go and price up their windows,if not then i dont chase them up and forget about them....they obviously arent that bothered to have their windows cleaned....

existing customers who i need a number off i just ask them.....or leave a little note......dont feel awkward!if their not prepared to give you their number then i wouldnt take them on full stop.
price higher/work harder!

Not getting their number ( if you need it for access) is as bad as not getting their address!!

You are building a nightmare round James, you want these types of houses to be the minimum, not all your round pal.
When people have to be in for you to clean a regular job , it will be a pain for them and you. You will then get asked what time are you coming because they need to go to hairdressers etc etc

James, take the awkward ones if you need the money to start, make sure there at least a fiver more for the trouble. If any of them miss you or mess you about, don’t go back.
Be honest with them, tell them they are a space in your working day and if you don’t earn from them you give the slot to someone else. Some just don’t understand why they’re a crap customer until you tell them, diplomatically!

To make it you’re going to have to toughen up. Don’t feel bad about asking for their number, it’s part of the service you offer, it’s whats sets you above some of the competitors. Getting all their details makes you look more professional imo.

Have a quick look at the front of the property before you knock on the door . If there’s no side gate and looks like you’ll have to climb over the garage to get to the back or if there’s no access like a terraced house then just offer front only, this is what I’d do if it was me

Don't canvass poor access or terraced etc! I don't even take them all. I just want semis and detatched with space to park and easy access.

All my data is stored in my head Mr data protection investigator
