anyone used both?ive always used gardiner poles for years now but im not impressed with their xtreme poles TBH in regards to robustness and strength.

are the phantom hi mod poles stronger than the xtreme poles?ive noticed facelift have also brought out a quick release brush connection too and quick release gooseneck attachments....

dont get me wrong the xtreme is great as an occasional high level pole(i have a xtreme 47 thats over 5 years old)but using one as an everyday 25ft pole im ruining them in less than 12 months.....not good value for money at all.....

Do what i do and use an slx 18 as an everyday pole and use the 25 extreme when needed

on my round its about 80/20 in favour of the 18.

The 18 slx weighs less than the extreme 25, is shorter collapsed so better suited to ground level work and at that height the slight lack of stiffness isnt much of an issue

the extreme should last 5x longer in theory

Can’t comment on the extreme but had my phantom since November used everyday for 8 hours so far so good obviously apart from me dropping it at full extended height and snapping a section. Maybe in another 6 months I might be saying different who knows.

Phantoms aren’t tried and tested yet. Give it another year and Mayb I’d be tempted.but I’ve heard people snapping sections of those poles too.

A pole is an expense. It doesn’t last forever. Aslong as I get 12 months out of a pole I’m happy.

Say worse case scenario and you had to replace a complete pole every 12 months, (which isn’t the case, it would only be one section)

But that would be about £50 per month tops for the best and lightest pole out there.

How much did it earn You in that month?

In reality it’s more like £30 a month.

Your shoulders and back will Thank you when your 60.

a lot of my work must be different than yours mate,i need a 25 footer as an everyday pole,an 18 footer would be next to useless for large chunks of my work.....

the thing is the xtremes are not lasting me even 12 months now,im sorry but i dont think their worth the money mate....the SLX poles will last AT LEAST 2 years before needing replacing plus their less than half the price......over the course of 10 years thats £6420 on xtreme poles (buying one every year) compared to £1500 on an SLX every 2 years at current prices...

are the xtremes worth around another £5k over 10 years?mmm....im not sure they are.....

i wouldnt be without a diesel hot water heater mate,ill always use one now until i retire from window cleaning.i wish id got one years ago...you live and learn......

Ok, so say after your initial purchase, you have to spend £100 or so on a section every 4 months.

It still works out as pennies to use the lightest pole out there.

Play the long game! Use the lightest and best equipment.

Adding things up over a decade makes them sound worse then they are in reality.

I don't, but Tosh and Helen use the pole hose outside the pole.

Could these things extend your xtreme's life?

i clean the pole hose lots of times during my working day and flush out(and separate)the sections with water every month or so.i  then spray the pole with PTFE dry lubricant....

ive tried working with outside pole hose and found it a nightmare,its slows me down and the hose catches on everything......

oh well in my pole "graveyard" i have lots of bits of  SLX/xtreme poles and will be able to make at least another 25 ft pole hybrid to go with my current pole......

here's a thought....

perhaps all that hot water continually going up the inside of the pole is softening up the carbon 
as we all know it melts concrete

go back to cold for a year Daz to see if the extreme lasts longer
