Welcome Packs
« on: May 21, 2019, 06:52:34 pm »
Toying with the idea of giving all new customers a welcome pack when joining.

An opportunity into providing info on how I operate, what happens if gate is left locked after notification. When it rains etc.

Maybe throw in a mug and and pen or something.

Anyone else do this?  Or is it a waste of time?

Yep, I've done this for a while now and i receive good feedback as well.
I leave a magnetised business card which has all the services I offer on it. When I was running out of them, I asked the wife ifi should do pens instead. She said she hates it when you get a naff pen from companies and so I decided to stick with the magnets.

personally i think customers are not arsed about "welcome" packs.......they just want a trustworthy window cleaner who turns up regularly, does a good job and charges a fair price and offers various payment methods, thats it.....

Keep it simple - it's only window cleaning not rocket science.

This is something I have been meaning to do for years but not got around to , I was going to do a small brochure type of thing with all the services we offer with before and after pictures  , all I have done so far is a letter to all our management companies we do work for explaining all our services  , I think it’s a very good idear as we have picked up a lot of gutter vac work from it and Ime sure if it was laid out well could provide a lot more work from existing customers .

i think its a good idea if your into add on jobs and commercial.i can see it bringing in extra work.......and makes you look more professional but for most of us who are mainly domestic window cleaners who only want to clean the odd add on job for existing customers interspersed with our regular rounds then i think its overkill....

Can you imagine a one off or messer smugly drinking out of one of your mugs as you clean next door?  >:(

I have several takes on it, the first being that it sets the mind set of the customer that you are running a legit business.  It's not for beer money or dole money etc and you therefore have set your stall out straight away.
They may read it, they may not, but you can always refer back to it if need be., ie locked gates and why you've charged what you have for instance.
It's another notch to being/having a professional touch about it.  Like I said prior, I get positive feedback from it as well.

Don't over complicate it, we're only window lockers!  Haha, the way we talk on here, are we only window licker 😂😂
But seriously, I take pride in being my own boss and running my own company for x number of years. Yes do a good job for a fair price and many won't care other than that, but I like to go that little bit further and give that little bit extra.
If we are just window licker then does it matter if we debate the use of hot water or cold or which brush does that little bit better etc etc or which pump to use or jets etc etc, when at the end ofthe day the customer doesn't give a flying uck as long as the window is clean, so why do ones care if its a scruff in trackie bottoms, beer can in hand, fAg in the other as long as he turns up every 4wks n they can see outthe window  ;D

I give out an 8 page booklet on the company, how it runs , q&a and how we clean windows.

I mainly done it as wanted all my franchisees to sing from the same hymn sheet.

I’ve never had a customer turn round and say that’s pointless or waffle. The booklet usually gets handed out round friends and family as well.

When you’re doing 50-100 new cleans a week a simple booklet to give to the customer saves loads of time and unnecessary phone calls.

I’m re designing the booklet now and that will be V2. We’ve given out around 3200 booklets but we have around 2000 customers.

I once put a note through the door of a customer saying st some point in the future, not to be specified, I might make my way round to their gaff to brush the glass in their windows.

I’ve had fantastic feedback, they even asked if i could do their Mums place. Who happened to be dead at the time; but hey, works work, dont knock it.

Yes I've done this.

I only did it for work that I had canvassed for me though, ones I hadn't spoke to myself when signing up just to make everything clear.

For anyone else I just explain to them when signing up.

This is the best way, if anyone queries me cleaning in the rain now I make out as if it's a strange question, "what I always clean in the rain I thought everyone knew you can clean in the rain with water fed pole, sorry I just assumed you knew" that makes them think oh yeh I must be the thick one not keeping up with the times.

Act confident about it not apologetic and they will just accept it. Or lump it.

I give the welcome pack to all new customers, regardless of how they became new customers.
The info on the sheet isn't apologetic for working in the rain, it quite simply states that I do. It gets it out the way, with the rest of your terms and conditions. It's also written, so it's a reminder if need be. How many times are you told something and it goes in one ear n the other.  So too when we speak to new clients lol.

Can’t understand why all you marketing experts are still looking for work and giving out leaflets. I haven’t had to look for work for eleven years now. Never done a welcome pack in my life.
