Black Hands.
« on: June 30, 2006, 02:33:54 pm »
I was using a 24ft pole for about 6 months and started to get an ache in my elbow so i changed to an aluminium 18 footer the pole itself is great and my ache is easing up, but ive now got hands like an hgv fitter.

Does anybody no if there is anything you can use to clean the pole up or is it just a case of buy another pole? if so can you reccomend a nice light one.

Many thans Ron.

It takes a while though!

It's the same when you buy a new alluminium ladder.

I've had my ladder 5 years, and I still get black marks on the shoulders of my clothes.
Particularly if it's wet. :(

thats al2o3 or aluminium oxide my friends - many doctors believe there is a link between it and alzheimers disease, hence why no-one sells aluminium saucepans anymore.  Another reason why I use fibreglass poles.

davie, your hands would be sweaty wearing gloves all day, foam bike handle covers are good, they even have finger grips on them,

Jouk,  With WFP you are constantly handling all parts of the pole when raising / lowering and gloves protect your hands doing that.  Its the inner poles that cause most problems.
