How often do you replace your pumps?
« on: April 29, 2019, 07:28:26 am »
I must have had these over 4 years. I'm finding that I need to turn up the pressure to about 75 80 initially though it was about 40 to 50.

I’ve never actually had to replace a pump......

Always been shureflo.

First van and system I set up I transferred the pump across to other vans. Lasted 8 years till I sold the van with system included.

Now on my new van and system the pumps are two years old so I suspect I will get many years more.

Aslong as your not having to run it at 100% then I don’t see a problem.

Also a diagphram change may make it back to new.

I have 2 Shurflo pumps on the van.

The first is 14 years old and the second is 13 years old.

8 years ago I bought a spare and its still in the cupboard.

Pump?

I use two pieces of plastic nailed together with a piece of string.

Never, shurflo pumps seem to go on forever - came close a little while ago but when we opened it up the brush had got stuck with a build up crud - gave the motor a clean and its like new  ;D

I've had the same pump for twenty years.

It's had 15 new heads, 12 new diaphragms and 3 new motors.

Are you using additives? Do you have a strainer?

What pump are you using crystal clear?

I binned a flojet pump years ago when starting out. Was probably just pressure switch (rookie mistake) It's replacement vyair only lasted less than two years. Shurflo pump now going strong for 8 +. You get what you pay for.

I think using a controller has a significant part in prolonging the life of a pump. I honestly can't think  of any positive in not using a controller.

Blimey 10 years 20 years I thought I was hardcore. I've changed a few over the last sort of 10 years.
Need to do some modifications to the spare van I might dig out one from the window cleaning graveyard bin.I suspect I was encouraged to buy a new ones from the Trader it was probably just a wiring or battery issue..
I think I've got about five or six old ones
