Let me tell you about a "near miss" I had and then tell me whether good insurance is worth having or not. (Obviously taking care is even more important in this example)
About ten years ago the hose caught on a wheely bin and I propped my extended SLX20 against the house to go and unsnag it. As I pulled it free I jerked the pole and it fell on a pram in the garden with the customer's baby in it. Fortunately it bounced off the hood, had the hood been down then the brush would have hit the baby.
The customer was amazingly good about - she actually said she shouldn't have left the pram so close to the house! (She was nearby weeding/doing some gardening) - as I stammered and went white at what could have happened.
Now had I injured that baby any insurance in the world would not have helped my guilt at my stupidity but it would have helped my pocket against a multi thousand pound claim.
