Due to Brexit
« on: April 04, 2019, 10:49:02 am »
Had a customer text to cancel until further notice until we all know whats going to happen with Brexit.   ???

I just sent a basic reply of thanks and to let me know when ready to start again.

Wow, first time I have had this as a reason.

I bet its got nothing to do with brexit. Just a lame excuse rather than being truthful.

Yes probably right. That's what crossed my mind too.  Maybe lost her job and she wants a tantrum to blame Brexit.

Why is it any different for our customers?

I haven't bought a new van due to uncertainty, and put back our trip to Australia until we know whats happening.

I'm going to put my prices up due to the uncertainty of brexit, just incase my champagne costs more.

No offence mate but you’ve been dithering on about this new van for 2 years now. Blaming it on Brexit is just like Mrs Smith cancelling her window clean because of Brexit. It’s a convenient excuse.

I did order a pizza, but we voted to cancel the order due to a demographic vote on who wants pizza and who wants chicken chow mein. So we cancelled the pizza order, only to be told that they had started making it and we would get a bill to cancel, so we had a referendum over it and now we dont know weather to cancel our cancellation with the pizza, or to place an order for the chow mein.

Problem is the ones that are providing the chow mein now no longer want us to order from them, because they are not confident that we can make up our mind, so it looks like we are back on the phone about the pizza place to resume the order, but its gone cold and been thrown away in the bin due to it going out of date.

So we are still waiting, and strictly come dancing is about to finish.

Why would you allow Brexit to stop you travelling abroad?

Reminds me of Y2K. What a bunch of dunderheads the world is made up from.

 ;D ;D

Ahh...no not cancelling holiday, it a bit more involved than that. And its sort of a family reunion, so not a holiday as much. there are 12 other family member in Australia all needing to sync their dairies too as we are all meeting up for the 1st time for a very emotional family get together for 2 weeks of fun and holiday times....

We got 10 people all going from the UK, but brexit uncertainties make things difficult for everyone. The engineering business that me and dad are running, the motorsports business that my brother is running and my window cleaning business all need to be considered with brexit; plus synchronising everything, arranging passports and diary's..kids holiday from school...etc..we were going to go this August as we were hoping for closure with this brexit fiasco by now, but just put it back to next August where brexit will have at least some clarity, for like passports etc..

I have holiday booked next month for a week, in the UK.. going with friends & their dogs (very large dogs) which will wear out the kids..hopefully.

And no im not depressed anymore.. i used to be...but im recovered from that for the most part.

I think it depends where you live to an extent as to how much our businesses will be affected. I doubt an orderly Brexit will have much impact anywhere though. I think house purchases for example might be best left until a clear outcome emerges.

Or, you could capitalise on nervous sellers and stick a cheeky low bid in now.
