Direct debit/standing orders/ BACS ???
« on: April 01, 2019, 09:24:51 pm »
Is it just my customers new n old, who simply get confused about banking / payment options.

So im still pushing to get my existing customers onto GoCardless and I had one phone me the other day to clarify what a direct debit was as she was confused.

I also gained a new customer from me being recommended to her. Explained payment details and left my welcome pack which also outlines how to sign up using my website.
A week later and no sign up. So on the way back home I called and left a courtesy note asking if any problems to let me know.

I then received this text

Im just dumb founded at how many people I have to explain how a direct debit works.
Does any body else find this the same or is it just us yorkshire folk  ;D

Iv just said to new customers set up a standing order and I’m surprised at how many actually do it. I really can’t be arsed with reminder txts anymore for people who pay by bank transfer so only offer this option .
My kids go to kickboxing and I was told from the beginning to set up a standing order for £36 a month which I did from the start and it’s just so much easier.

Seriously....

you have so much waffle that I was bored even before looking for the form to pay, if your having that many customers not understanding then simplify your web page

Your welcome pack might need critiquing, so that you don't need to follow up with a courtesy note to your clients.

Don’t forget CHAPS as payment, don’t know what it is but it takes ages and makes you stress.

I really want to see the ‘welcome pack’!

Not much space to waffle on an A5 flyer, so all is good 😎

Come on then lads, put your links up for your websites so we can all critique them.  I could get to see some well thought out sites and improve upon mine.....

no need for websites or "welcome packs"...... ::)roll......

after getting contact details and name/address i simply agree a price, frequency and payment method with a new customer, thats it....

no need for explanations about working in the rain, cleaning method etc.....unless they ask/query......

The welcome pack is just a little something else to help stand out in a flooded market.
Its the same when I started using business style cards to say windows have been cleaned, years ago in my area. Everybody else just used scrap paper ripped out from a book 😂

Plus its a written reminder of your terms ie work in rain, locked gates after a message and charges of that etc etc.  Its very brief but its there.  The website is an extension of that, so if they ask about whatever, ie why i work in the rain. Rather than wasting time explaning, I can simply refer them to the site.
Plus the welcome pack includes a magnetised business style card which has all the services I have listed. Yes they may not use it, but again, its a little different to others.    Which I have received alot of positive feed back on from new customers. So its effective, well at least for me anyway.
