I do admire the hard work that Lee has put In to get a big business, takes a lot of determination.

But to make out he's some sort of rocket scientist or a genius is ridiculous.

That's why people dislike him because of his ego and the way he believes what he has done is special.

Nobody needs anyone's and advice to grow a window cleaning round. You need a hell of a lot of guts and determination but only half a brain.

Lee sold his house got lots of money and paid a company  to deliver millions of leaflets. The phone rang he took on customers and employed staff. Then he repeats the process until infinitum.

Its really not difficult. The difficulty people have is that it's extremely stressfull and hard work to put it into practice which is why most cant be arsed but let's not pretend that no one else could do it. They just don't want it bad enough to cope with all the poope that goes with it.

I think you've contradicted yourself there. It's very stressful indeed and although he's identified and developed  a fairly simple plan, he's put everything on hold to achieve it. He obviously has an inflated ego and sometimes lacks the communication skills on here, but not everyone could do it, for the reasons you've given.

What does surprises me is the amount of others that have also built similiar sized setups but dont publicise these facts unless they contribute to these threads.

I think fundamentally its just the wrong type of forum.

Lee was in sales, and fundamentally he couldn't give a monkey's about what pole to use, what tank, and hosereel. He is really just interested in the business aspect and pushing forward with that.

Unfortunately the majority of window cleaners are not business minded people, they just want to work and get paid with little or minimal fuss and not having a boss to answer to.

This is why business focused topics on turnover targets, expansion and wealth creation through window cleaning is never a popular topic on here and will always cause rifts between those who are business focused and those who just want to make a living and be happy with that.

I have  also decided to curb my topics on business growth, and expansion. Its just not the right sort of forum.

No one needs to get Lee back - he’s a big boy and as pointed out hasn’t left the forum yet - I suspect things were typed in anger and frustration

Cleaniac- made some good points - drive and desires are different for different people - all have valid points - myself I take less interest in wfp equipment than I used to - mainly because I don’t wash windows - the guys have good equipment and get on with the job - no need to look at extremes, phantoms etc... this is due in part that we also do a lot of pressure washing which has vastly more variables to deal with and in general it’s not a straight forward repeat business

Lee is a nice guy, but ultimately (like most of us) runs his ship alone and sometimes it’s nice to share things and get some recognition for the efforts - it may not quite come across as intended.

As for stress, well yes there is some but this is a great service industry to be in where work once acquired is pretty much yours for as long as you want it ( other than c@cking it up with bad cleaning or being unreliable)  - you only need to chase work while growing - for me I had more stress as a one man operator - the problems I deal with now I find I cope with better than when I did the canvassing, accounts, finance and cleaning

People can talk about business growth all they want on the forum. They just need to also grow a set of bigger balls to deal with any criticism which will most definitely come their way.

There is a clear pattern of dummy spitting and quitting the forum from the most vocal of "great business minds" on here.

Why is that?...

Simply because they think their achievements deserve respect, which is why they publish them. When they don't get the respect they think they rightfully deserve then everyone else must be "jealous" or "not business minded", which is a load of tosh.

A little boy got killed on his bike in my village yesterday, he was 5 years old and wont get to live his life.  My son used to play with him.

Its put things into perspective for me, we are all able to make decisions on what we all want to achieve, but it can be snuffed out and taken away from you  before you even get the chance.

I am not getting into arguments or debates anymore, no one is 'right' no one is 'wrong' it is what it is for everyone and we need to realise that amongst the squabbles, and hissy fits we are all guilty off, its just not worth it and we are all window cleaners, we need to just get on with each other.

My overall point is though mark, we are all business minded here as we all run our own business.
What makes someone who wants to earn 100k more business minded then someone who wants to earn 40k?
The 2 processes are the same to get to where they want, I.e hard graft, canvassing, leafletting, marketing etc. The one wishing to make 40k will obviously hit his target quicker then the 100k target, but will have gone through exactly the same drama trying to get there.

Because someone has decided they need 100k for a decent standard of living it doesn't make them anymore business minded then those with smaller targets.

In fact the ones with smaller targets probably have the most inspirational stories on here.
They couldn't afford to sell houses and Chuck huge amounts of money into a business, a lot have probably come from real hardship, drug/alcohol addiction or family traumas and brought themselves back from the brink to earning a good living. That deserves a huge amount of respect, especially as they have done it without seeking any attention for it (other then dazmond  ) and are happy with the self gratification that has come with just earning a good wage.
