Great stuff!

Are all your guys dbs checked?

Do you use an app for daily and weekly vehicle checks?
We use paper at the moment but I’m thinking an app would be tidier.

Interesting point

I know several people were trying to get cp to intergrate paperwork, like job sheets etc...  but I don’t know the current situation on that

I think the mrs mentioned an app a few weeks back so I think it’s possible

Are you for real ? your guys need to fill out a vehicle check list before heading out to work, legally every driver should be doing this but an employee has put it in writing.

Wrong, they dont legally have to do that. Sorry to disagree yet again but thats wrong.

To answer the actual question here we do not do vehicle checks. Instead each van goes to Renault every 6 months and anything that either needs to be done or is likely to need to be done within the next 6 months gets done regardless of the cost.

I think you have to when employing five or more. Should be part of your risk assessment. Along with recording the checking of ladders etc.

I keep telling you, this guy is an idiot who's best ignored.

A vehicle operated on company business is not subject to the same legislation as for larger vehicles operated over 3,500 kg and after all it’s just a van or a car and the driver is responsible for it. In turn many drivers also believe that it’s just a tool for the job (I’m just employed as a plumber, engineer etc…) and it’s not their responsibility to check the vehicle. This leads to no one regularly checking or looking after the vehicle.
Any vehicle used should be fit for purpose and in a legal and roadworthy condition. Driver’s must complete vehicle daily checks, these are to be recorded by the company and it be recorded that drivers are completing these checks.
Any defects that are found on the vehicle checks must be reported, recorded and repairs actioned. These checks can be recorded by manual sheets or via electronic systems and must be made available if requested by bodies such as the Police, VOSA or HSE.
If a vehicle is found to be defective, which is usually following a roadside check or accident, the penalties carry heavy fines and can lead to custodial sentences for Driver’s, Transport Manager’s and Company Directors.
Below is a link of to how to carry out daily checks as produced by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) as well as a copy from the DVSA of what should be checked and an example of a Daily Check Sheet as produced by Brake.

And I keep telling you dry clean to stop being so personally rude to me.

So what you have posted does not say that an emloyee by law must fill out a check list every day.

On the other hand what I have posted does say what the legal requirements are, of which we conform to. Now kindly f... off

That is vehicle maintenance which has nothing to do with employee checks, if you are going to give out legal advise then at least make sure its right, what I posted above is cut and pasted from the DVSA website.

I will step in here,

I was legally advised to have van sheets - daily and weekly check sheets - basically if the driver goes out in an  illegal van for example damaged or bald tyre and gets stopped or an accident the owner or member of staff designated to maintain the vehicle will be as responsible as the driver - same for speeding tickets etc.. you need to prove who was driving that vehicle - no signature no proof

Dry clean is stop on - his method may rub you up the wrong way but anyone with an “employee” needs a log

To add to that our guys sign a safe driving policy, no smoking in vehicle - no drink or drugs - drive safely and within the speed limits (50 for single carriage ways 60 dual carriage ways ) no erratic driving or visual signals to other road users

Any of the above can result in written warning to instant dismissal

My problem is I don't think Lee is genuine so I tend to be rude in my replies to him, will have to wind my neck in.
