« on: March 06, 2019, 10:24:03 am »
Hi lads. I know it's been here few times but the prices are changing so it's worth to refresh topic.
What would you recommend to put on van and from who?
Vistaprint got some but it's seems to be too small.
Also based on your experience is sing really help you out or just making pain in neck for messers ringing all the time  ;D
Thansk for help.

you can't beat  quality sign written van - mags are ok - but even now after 15 years the father in law has ditched them for vinyl ones

Does it make a difference YES - from direct walk ups to people ringing the office to more subliminal comments that "we see your vans everywhere" ( of course there are those that don't wish to be seen! )

its another advert for your biz - very cost effective - good signage - clean van = quality leads and work

Magnetic signs say cowboy/ traveller/ jack off all trades and a sign to go with each, van signage isn't only about advertising its also about showing a customer that have nothing to hide and are here to stay so make them look permanent.

Magnetic just looks cheap and tacky

Only time I would consider using them would be if I had a nice pickup truck or similar which unused for work and pleasure

Would rather not have any at all than have magnetic I think.

Well i have magnetic signs and I still clean properties ranging from £30 - £50 every four weeks.  I also get walk ups and people have taken photos of the sign on their phones in order to get the telephone number.  This also heppens when im parked outside a school (either cleaning properties next to it or simply picking my kids up) and at petrol stations etc.

The reason why I went with magnetised is due to the age of the van. I would want a whole body repaint of it before i did sign writing on it.  This I concluded was too high an expense for the longevity of the van.
Do i regret it?  NO

When i get a newer van would i choose magnetised over a print?  NO as i do think a sign written van by whichever choice looks more professional and stands out a whole lot more.

£30 to £50 properties,  WOW even the big guns on here don't get those prices for 4 weekly cleans, (roll eyes)

Oh sorry sean, i didnt realise i needed a disclaimer to say its relevant to the catchment area you live in.  Obviously some big guns charge this for a standard 3 bed semi and good for them. So in this context that their normal prices are 30 a standard house it would be like saying i still get the 80 - £100 4 weekly jobs with magnetised signs.
But really, did i need to put a disclaimer 😎😂😂

Once established no signs at all!
I'm to busy to handle the curtain twitches and walk ups. Happy to take the odd decent job that finds me online but that's it. Most get ignored.
If your looking to grow though then definitely proper sign writing is needed. Picked up quite a lot of work from walk ups from my last van because of decent signage and keeping it clean and well kept.

Youve just agreed with me lol, you think a sign written/newer van looks better too.

Signwriting doesnt have to be expensive, mine cost about £120. Last van was £80...granted I stuck it on myself and its not the most flash design in the world but looks 10x better than magnetic

I have never had sign writing on any of my vehicles. I only drive old clunkers anyway (my current van is a 14 year old Berlingo with peeling paint/lacquer) but I have plenty of work and attract new customers almost every week, not because of what my van looks like, but because of many satisfied customers who advertise for me by way of word of recommendations.

 ;D

I just never wash my van nowadays so have  a layer of filth to graffiti my company logo on with my fingers.
Who needs to pay £100s for sign writing when you can do it for free..

Mines done professionally, looks good, but I’m not sure if I can measure how much work I actually get from it, probabaly less than a job a month.

I’d say 80% of my work comes through my website and 20% a mix of recommendations and walk ups.

Toying with the idea of getting a transit custom sport next, might not bother with the sign writing, may just have a small logo on each side of the van.

Provided the magnetized sign is of good size for the van, i think its better than no sign and simply driving a white non descript van.

If the signwriting costs you (for example) £300, even if it picked up just one extra job all year at £30 then after 10months that job has paid for your signwriting...

06plate MK6 transit with holes in, 16plate custom...had both signwritten and irrelvant of age it was worth it on both.

Plus...it’s only £300!! You’d pay that for a pole!!
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

sign writing on my van cost me £160 for sides, back and bonnet....(with logo too)cash in hand...he did a great job......its not expensive....in fact it can cost you £100 or so for decent magnetic signs so you might as well go for the sign writing IMO no matter how old the van is if you plan on keeping it for a year or two...
price higher/work harder!

Magnetic is fine if it is of the right size. Some of the Vistaprint car signs on a van look too small IMO.

But a well made magnetic that is sized to a panel is fine.

It's a game of three halves!
