Newbie, advice on what machine to buy
« on: February 08, 2019, 11:18:45 am »
Hi,

I'm a new member and i am trying to get my self a pressure washer for domestic cleaning. I will be mainly washing oily and dirty machinery (engineer by trade), sometimes strip paint of machinery, clean my own cars (4x4's), clean my concrete patio etc.

I spent hours on the internet trying to find out what i need and there is so much information on the internet that I am confused and i need some advice.

So far i think what i need is:
A Pump (Interpump W202/WS251 or Annovi Reverberi RR15.25)
Engine (Honda GX340 or GX390)
Drive belt assembly
Lance, nozzles etc

Can somebody comment on the above setup please? I prefer pressure instead of flow however i don't want to buy a pump that won't do the job i need to do.

If somebody has a machine for sale please let me know. I found a used machine that has a loncin 14hp and an AR 15.25 engine on it, any advice on this setup?

Thanks

Kev Martin

Hi there - you are defo looking at the correct kit - Qwashers on eBay do a great package although he prefers a twin feed - Ben at Rutland pumps is also good but :any not be able to price match

What engineering did you do?

Im a mechanical engineer, are you also an engineer?

I couldn’t resist on a used machine with a Loncin 420cc engine and a belt driven AR RR15.25 pump (Low speed 4000PSI at 17lpm). I have my doubts about the Loncin engine but according to people on the internet them engines seem to be made of good quality parts and are very reliable. It’s a used machine with 20hours on the clock according to the seller. As far as i am aware this is a JetMac machine.

Sounds like a good start - hopefully the seller is correct that it’s only done 20 hrs - regular oil changes are the key to keeping any of these machines running

Not any more did nearly 30 years on machines for the like of British aerospace and formula one teams with a few cr*p employers in between - went from lathe work to programming machining  centres

Yeah i will be changing the oil on a regular basis, 1 litre of oil every now and then is won't cost much anyway.

Formula 1 and aerospace is my passion since i were a kid and is a filed i always wanted to get into, i got stuck in the steel industry at the moment and i need to find a way to get out :\

Will the oily and dirty machinery be outside or inside? What sort of machinery will it be?  And stripping paint require more than a  gx390 pressure washer.

The gear you are suggesting will clean your car & patio but as for the other things it might not be the best choice.

What set up will i need for stripping paint? I might build my own pressure washer for these kind of things
