I have in the past bought Redash metal rollers but over time these wore out/broke so I recently bought new ones (not Redash) from a cleaning company that most of you have probably heard of (through E bay) My initial thoughts were very favourable as they seemed nice and sturdy and up to the job!! How wrong I was. Within 2 days they have seized up and despite me trying to free them it has proved impossible. Obviously I have been on to the company who seem to think that i should have "oiled or lubricated" them from the start (this information is not included in any paperwork, Oh hold on,there isnt any!!) They came unlubricated and my previous rollers never needed lubricating in all of the years that I used them. I wont at this stage mention the company as I am still hoping for a resolution and I dont know how the moderators feel about naming and shaming companies. Anybody else had this problem?? I cant believe that i am the only person that has!!

Actually, they were not!!  I have had further communication from the company who now state that i should have oiled them myself before use!! I would have thought that they would have come pre-oiled if that was the case or at least came with some grease (not that I would want that stuff contaminating the hose) I have used other metal rollers and never needed to oil them!!! and i would guess that no one  else has either!!!

This post is an addendum to my other post re the above.   I have had metal rollers from other companies and have never been advised or needed to lubricate them. Has anyone else ever oiled theirs ?

They are flat refusing to refund the item and insist that it is my fault.(cleaning warehouse)

It’s reasonable to assume that the rollers have bearings and these should have grease in them- no need for customer to oil them (which wouldn’t last long)

I would inform them that you require a full refund (28 days no quibble if brought online) or your going to trading standards

Does anyone know and recommend roller guides with ball bearings rather than plastic bushings?

The bushing last no time and I converted 2 to run with bearings but they only last so long. Need new ones and don’t want the far of retrofitting bearings.

Generally you have 30 days if a product is not fit for purpose via the consumer rights act.

If you bought them off eBay you would win if it was faulty, at the very  least you have 14 days to return an item bought from a business seller. Not sure on how this works past 14 days though.

The only downside Incan see is you have admitted spraying them with WD40 which acts as a degreaser so that could go against you.

If they won't refund you and you are determined to get your money back then take it further or just drop it and suck it up.

I made my own rollers.
Easy to do and you can make them as wide or narrow as you like for your needs.
I bought stainless steel tubing of eBay 2cm which stated their internal diameter. I then matched the internal diameter with a sealed roller bearings.
I made a simple frame from metal sheeting, it doesn’t need to be thick metal, maybe 5mm,
Bought long threaded metal rod and nuts and washers. Cut to length and ready to bolt to floor or reel.
It takes a bit of time to get the placement of the rollers in your head, but just look at good examples on the internet and you get the idea.
