Having a clear out
« on: February 03, 2019, 11:12:33 am »
Decided to have a new year clear out of the crap.. I have a few that are always difficult to catch in for payment, one I gave my bank details to about a year ago,and asked her to pay me online,if I didn’t catch her on collecting night. She never did, and I was always chasing her for 2 or 3 lots.
I didn’t bother going back this time round, so will wait and see if she approaches me when she notices dirty windows, and asks why they  aren’t being done. If she starts paying on time, and the amount outstanding,I will go back.  Another one last week stopped me and said,”leave mine TIL the spring,,I just do them myself in the winter”. . I replied just continue doing them yourself in the spring mate, as I don’t stop work in the winter.  ( much as I would like to).
Cheers Rich

I clear out regularly.

Some just are too much hassle to chase, I picked up a new one not long back will pay online never did. Will leave money out next time, never did...

Just dropped it, can't be arsed with stress anymore, just clean loads of windows fast as I can and odd one that doesn't pay just dump them. I used to do debt collection letter etc but can't be arsed now, if I'm turning over enough money the odd non payer is just a business cost, try not to take it personal.

I use the taffic light system.

Most customers are green.   If they show signs of being a PITA they go amber.    The reds are dumped.

I very rarely drop a customer ......even the late paying ones...they pay up eventually so not bothered really,it's only a few jobs here and there......

....but sometimes they have to go......usually it's the customers attitude to me that seals their fate....I'm being professional and doing a good job month in/month out, offer a wide selection of payment methods,etc,etc....I'm keeping to my side of the bargain so should they....

That shocks me daz - for someone who is so organised with money , I would’ve thought you would be on top of your debt list. I know you think of it as coming eventually, but that’s not the point . Your customers must not be trained very well- last month I was owed £13 which came in yesterday as the bloke was away when I did them

Sod that..

My debt list is always small I mean 100-200...any late payers get dropped...I do a good job so I expect to be paid pronto.

i invoice commercial jobs with 14 day payment limit too. Apart from one, a wedding venue, during the busy season I am there weekly, so just bill them each month.
