Go Cardless Question
« on: January 29, 2019, 06:54:07 pm »
Hi Folks,  question; when you clean the house of a customer signed up for Direct Debit, do you still leave some kind of card to say you've been or do you just leave it to Go Cardless to inform them via the invoice?
If you just leave it to the invoice being emailed to them does anyone ever make an issue that they weren't aware of your visit?

Just leave a slip

Mine say "windows cleaned today" to pay via blah blah blah

for those who pay via GC i leave them blank for those who dont i write on their price.

I did try not writing their price on for a bit to be greeted with a dozen texts "how much is it again?" (same as the last 3 years but there you go)

Like daz says  i leave one even if they are in and have seen me, always leave one, then there cant be no comebacks.

I’m in the habit of always leaving a card but as GC sends them an invoice at the end of the day I wondered if I was just wasting time and money by duplicating the process. ?

Same as above answers.  I have thousands of cards printed from solopress.com. carry them in tge back pouch of my belt and simply post just before i clean their door.
I dont have the price on the cards, nor the date, but its a business card size card with my company name and logo and the message
"Windows Cleaned"

So if the customer is used to having one of your cards through the door, simply continue as you did

We never leave a card or slip to say we’ve been

Everyone is texted what day were due, Friday before

All customers have been instructed if they receive an emailed invoice it means there windows were cleaned and if there’s a problem please contact us immediately so we can rectify any problem

If customer pays online invoice Is emailed if they pay by GC it’s just processed they get a notification

Any issues are dealt with when they arise

I personnally dont see the point in dating it. For one reason, they get back home from work or wherever and find the card. Now they know ive been that day! This only doesnt work if they are away, but the same common sense applies. "Oh, the window cleaner has been whilst weve been away"
The second reason, and is trivial, but rather than just pulling a card out n posting, then walk to the next house. You have to mess about writing the date on the card, keeping a pen on you that may or may not work or leak in your pocket etc. To me its just a little thing that i can do without. But like i said thats just my opinion. (GoCardless customers also get an email telling them which week their windows were cleaned. I process them on a friday and put "your windows were cleaned during the week starting mon X")

David

I’m toying with offering go cardless to a handful of slow payers, that I don’t care if I keep or not.

I also use George software

How easy did you find setting up go cardless?

A couple of questions of you didn’t mind answering

1) the 1st payment go cardless is the difficult one as if customer doesn’t follow your link to mandate you can still be waiting for payment?

2) once setup you hit notification button and your paid a few days after the customer has been told by email?

3) so you get paid about a week after clean and the only way you won’t is if customer contests this or they don’t have enough funds in their bank account 😀?

4) can you text them the link for setting up go cardless or it has to be email?

5) I’m monthly but often run late
So if mandate is set to monthly e.g
19 th of month but say you don’t show up till 25 th no money leaves customers account until you request payment

This is why I won’t do standing order now but a handful of customers as I’ve had to refund them maybe 1 sometimes 2 cleans a year

Sorry I think that’s all my questions at the moment 🤭

Just been looking at some back posts David

And see you were asking questions about go cardless

So you must be happy 🤔

Thanks everyone

Ps tried asking go cardless staff
Some of the questions and there seem to be difficulties in answering

I would like to try go cardless but
I need someone to hold my hand 🤣

Other guys on here will probably be better placed to answer your questions but here goes.
1. Check your software is linked to Go Cardless, I use Aworka. The setup was not difficult.
2. It’s not Standing Order so you don’t have to set a monthly date , although I believe you can if you want. It only invoices the customer once you mark it done on your software.
3. The 1st invoice can be tricky if the mandate was submitted by the customer after you cleaned the windows. It won’t collect that payment unless later you manually email a statement and tick the collect payment box. I’ve had mix ups because I didn’t realise that.
4. It notifies you if a payment fails and resubmits the request automatically a few days later.
5. I have a link to the mandate on my website, I don’t know how else a customer would access one.
6. Payment is collected a few days after the clean.

I can’t think of anything else just now except to say it’s been worthwhile setting up and I now probably receive 25% of my payments via it.  Also it does all the book keeping on my software automatically for those customers who pay that way.
Hope this helps.
