firing a paye employee.

Found some useful information That some of you who have been considering offering work by paye employment might find interesting. It's no secret that a lot of us are put off by employment because of the complicated law associated with it.
But it turns out you can fire someone for simply not being good at their job and they won't have the right to a tribunal if they have worked for you for less than 2 years. Further to this it clearly states during probationary periods you can be dismissed with a week's notice and you have no legal rights apparently. Obviously it would be sensible to only dismiss for a good reason and keep records appropriately.
I'm just reading from the government website here
So further research is advised obviously but I thought I just throw a little bit of vague information out for some of you future high roller window cleaners out there !, feel free to share your story if you have actually dismissed somebody and somehow did managed to bite you back and let us know the reality about what we are reading here.
I came across this because a friend of mine who has a t-shirt business mentioned he is dismissing somebody for basically poor work I straight away advised him to look into this because employment law is complicated but then he basically told me that information which I looked up on the government website.

The 2 years is for unfair dismissal.
You can get rid of someone before much easier (reason wise) but statutory rights still apply.
You still have to follow a disciplinary and grievance procedure you cant just get rid.
You also can't discriminate
I looked into in detail when a guy I had said he was going to a tribunal because I let him go after a week ...turned out an empty threat but I checked the law out anyway.
Make sure your contracts are water tight.

As Gomo says which is good advice, make sure your contracts are water tight.
We employ a HR company to look after our company and the procedures must be followed correctly, it’s not so simple to just get rid of someone.
