Pig headed ignorance
« on: December 04, 2018, 07:20:27 am »
I clean two houses on opposite sides of the road to each other. So i parked outside one yesterday & started cleaning & had been there 10 minutes or so when i saw my other customer pull up in his van & park directly opposite my van thus blocking the two lane  road. He gets out says something to me with a smile & walks in his house... So i'm thinking, he's just popped home to pick something up & will come out any second & move. But  he doesn't! It was totally unnecessary to park opposite me, the rest of the road was clear & 10 yards either side of me would have allowed traffic to flow.
Its around 3pm so the schools are kicking out & roads are getting busy, eventually cars start backing up & im forced to drop tools & move my van! I was fuming!
The customer of the house that i was cleaning saw all this go down & said to me, "That guy thinks that spot is his".
Although this git is my customer i rarely have any contact with him, just deal with the wife. Regardless, i think they're due a price hike  ;D

I would have done the same .

Although if he wasn't a customer I wouldn't have moved.

"I was here first" shift it  :D

Had that with a gutter job. Van was new and weather was mingling so I got out put on the dirty water proofs etc and Custy blocked the road at school time. Took the gear off and went home feck them I thought. Told the neighbours friend who was waiting to get past when the custy walked off if  he's that stupid he can find someone else.

Yep its my pet hate as well and its not even the house owner who does it, it can be people visiting etc. They just dont think and its really annoying, especially when people cant get by and see you working and automatically assume yoir the one whos double parked.

Had you already done the other house?
I would have left it and blamed the lack of parking 🤪
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

All part of the job for me these days. Feckin selfish ignorant people everywhere every day. Even reversing on to my driveway or leaving of a morning for work becomes a challenge. If I allowed it to wind me up it would spoil my day before it had even started.

I've just patiently waited 15 mins this morning for a parking space outside of a block of flats I'm cleaning. By the time the guy was ready to pull out there were another 3 cars all fighting me for the space although I had parked opposite on kerb engine running and indicating plus motioning out the window politely that I was waiting for the space. One driver tried to grab the space and I had to aggressively drive them out of it with the horn pressed down firmly for 5 secs.

Manners and waiting your turn don't seem to exist anymore.

It's the time of year. The lead up to the annual nonsense always seems to make people act like nutters!

You're spot on Daz. I'm from Kent. Garden of England? More like the rat hole of England! Much friendlier and laid back in Ireland!
