Customers are hard work sometimes!
« on: December 03, 2018, 06:05:51 pm »
I've just texted one of my customers to leave the gate open for tomorrow  and she comes back with this" yes fine but would you mind leaving the summer house as I'm trying to keep the cost down.
The thing I've been cleaning that house before the summer house was built and when it was I never raised the price.  Ive just pointed this out to her and she thinks I'm trying it on...  customers really do my head sometimes shes bloody loaded too

The lesson learned here is to never do a new add on for free.   If they have a new conny etc then charge more. Simple.

This is the thanks you get.

Just email them a statement of account and ask them again

Just cos they have a big house don't mean they are loaded. I did a house 2 weeks back, a big expensive house and the owner asked if it was ok for me to defer payment to credit till the end of the month as that's when they get paid. Got the payment through today, and a remittance advice from a private non high street bank.

Some people earn lots of money, and live to that limit every month. You can be earning hundreds of thousands a month, if your outgoings are hundreds of thousands a month on mortgages for boats and property, hp payments on flashy cars, membership payments at golf and polo clubs, bills for luxruy etc...  then your no wealthier than someone on benefits barely making ends meet.

Although you would have assets to sell, but not cash rich

I was working through some light rain this afternoon when one of my customers, with a twinkle in his eye decides to have some friendly banter with me about it when he came out to pay. He is never bothered by it but his timing however, couldn't have been worse because another costomer who does take issue with it happened to be passing and joined in for real. The look on his face was apologetic but it left me trying to convince this other customer that there really wasn't an issue with working in the rain. Fortunately on this occasion reason won over.

Customers will always be the worst part of this job .

They drive me nuts weekly.

Best thing to do I've found is have more than you need each day then when the inevitable messing comes you still have enough to do

this is true.....some people dont live within their means(or lose a job or business struggling)......

over the years ive been shocked at some of my customers who on the outside seem to have it all(material wise),nice large house,a few flash cars on the drive......then you find out they ve filed for bankruptcy...... ::)roll

Totally agree. I am snowed under with work, so these days when someone tells me 'not today' it often helps rather than hinders me.

Depends what you mean by snowed under...

All I mean is if you want £250 a day get £270 - £280 a day worth of work...as there's always one on holiday, not today or cancels etc .

Better to have too much than too little

I probably qualify as a busy fool. If I could make a living by bartering my services for the basic necessities, I would. Money means nothing to me, so as long as I can make enough to live on, that's good enough for me.

It's good to have a content attitude John as long as you (people in general) make sure you are putting some aside for less financially rewarding times. Best not to live "hand to mouth" - not that I am suggesting you are.

By the standards of many I probably am Malc! But as long as I can earn enough to feed, clothe and house my family, I will be content with these things. 😊

You have done very well Daz, and I truly admire the way you have turned your life around and become what you are today.

If you were to write a book of your life I would read it.

Best wishes,
John

Not a good book like bravo two zero by Andy McNab though.
