do you reckon?I personally wouldnt put more than a 650L tank in a 1200kg payload van......with all your other gear and a passenger you could be very close(or over)the limit......

On the Peugeot Expert the payload excludes the weight of 90% of a full fuel tank of diesel. Fuel tank capacity is 70 liters. I presume it will be the same with Citroen. (If its not a fuel weight 'credit' then there will be something toward the drivers weight like the old vans were. Old Berlingos were 70kg driver's allowance which was reduced to 50kgs on the later vans.)

Cheers. I guess it can all be worked out at least a 650 litre tank only thing is when you have a day full of first cleans you do get through a lot of water.

just to point out, why are you using pure water on first cleans only.
what we do when you can connect to the outside tap, clean all the windows first. then just use your pure to finish the glass simple

I never use more than 500lt me only in a full day !

that wouldnt work though if your customers have very hard water plus its a faff connecting up hoses to outside taps(also no good if you have a hot water system)....

it looks unprofessional too IMO.......

what a waste of pure water!!

been cleaning since 2005 , we have made a proper connect hose very Professional and very quick connect , we have used water that is nearly 500ppm with no problems at all, don't understand what hot water has to do with it.

but at the end of the day if you won't to use pure , and you won't to waste all that money hay ho!

I do this sometimes, I’ve got a long length of pole hose connected to a male hose lock connector.

This sits in the van, but every now and then on a filthy first clean (or when doing facias and gutters) it comes out, connects to the customers hose and hey presto.

I then go over the windows with pure water so they dry as normal.

Daz it diesnt effect the windows, remember we’re going back over the windows quickly with the pure after, to get rid of all the hard water. It works perfectly and also has the bonus of high flow rate from the customers tap.

Granted, rarely do I bother doing first cleans like this. Just on the odd occasion when it’s really really filthy. But i always do facais and gutters with the customers water.

I have a dispatch 1250

I have a 700L tank plus when working 2 man i carry another 150l in barrels.

so 850l plus weight of tank and frame, plus reels etc i would guess about 1000 kg total

plus 2 men , We are probably close to the limit first thing on a morning but dont think we are over it. However we might be over the axle weights who knows.

The good news if vans are ‘over engineered’ so they can handle way more weight than the listed amount.

The bad news is it’s ilegal. Having said that, I drove around in a transit connect with a 750l tank for 3 years and never ever had a problem with the van.

I’m sure it was probably over weight. But like you say gomo, only for the first half of the day at most.

Now I’m in a transit custom, with the same size tank, I don’t need to worry!

Still see lots of window cleaners rolling around my area with massively overweight vans, the rear wheels tucked into the wheel arch etc!

I used to do the same for conny roof jobs but I find it easier to use my hot pure these days,I only work short days so I don't run out of water(500l tank)....

It costs pennies to purify my water as my tap tds is 024......so I don't see it as a waste.......plus I charge a good price for add ons so it's just another small business expense....

If I had tap tds of 024 and lived in a cheap flat like you daz, I’d be absolutely minted, I mean MINTED.

My mortgage is probably more than your entire household and work bills combined  :o

Though what are your plans for the future daz? Rent for the rest for your life?

a farpoint regarding using the tap water first
Then rinsing off
however a lot of these first cleans are terraced houses and on the semi-detached houses People are out or there's no access to a tap most the time so I'd rather just focus on carrying water and making sure  enough for the day. One other thing I suppose you're faffing about losing time which is important as well and then on a very hot day I would be concerned I guess but it's a good idea and I won't rule it out at all.

I did a few days full of first cleans and I have to fill up the 400l tank twice. Doing my best to get back into the job after coming off a bit of a downer through injury and crap like that! Going well lots of canvassing lots of one off finding out who's regular obviously keeping up with regular work so yeah quite a few one-offs and stuff like that dirty frames taking up a lot of water I mean a lot!

So I'm thinking having a citroen Dispatch could be the way forward and carrying around 800l

My point is the dispatch is a little bit in between the Ford Connect and a bigger van like a Ford custom or Renault Trafic which I don't want

Coppers around our way are forever stopping haulage and dodgy vans. Go to a weigh bridge and get a printout before you start work one morning whilst fully laden. You be surprise how much one 650 litre tank, water, battery, ladders, ladder rack, etc all add up to. Very easy to reach maximum weight limit if not cautious.

Yes I carry 650l in the 1000kg Dispatch so unless you're obese it wont be a problem.
