Im just about to start building my backpack,i have got all the parts and just need to get a few small parts made,it will be 12v powered with a 60psi pump.i have also got a varistream but not 100% sure if im fitting it,it is not for a lot of use just for a couple of jobs that will be alot easier to do with it rather than the van mount,i use to have a trolley setup but it didnt really get used that much so that got dismantled and parts sold,but i still needed to do these jobs and it started to take too much time using the van mount,so i`ll be posting pics soon,Gaz

gaz, wonder what it will look like with the varistream, and why dont they put them on the backpacks, is it the price, or just extra weight, cant wait for the pics

I`ve just got back from my mates who`s making me the parts for the pump and battery to fit they will be housed and the varistream will probably have to go on show,if all goes well i should have it ready for the weekend  ,Gaz

Here`s a few pics before i get started,it started off as a pressure pump up backpack so i removed all the parts,i had the aluminium box and the battery bracket made,just got to decide how much hose i will need it`s microbore so nice and easy to use,just got to get a couple of small bits and it should be ready to use for next week  ,Gaz

Hi Matt,yes the cameras working  ,i`ll take pics of those connectors for you,
it`s a 60 psi pump and it`s a 7 amp hour battery,im not planning on using it for long periods just on a few jobs that will be much easier and quicker with it so the battery should hopefully be ok,Gaz

Looks like the Allman sprayer ? You may want to leave the "box" accessible, I am always tinkering with my bits.  You need to get at the battery quickly for changeover. I could get you some uprated padded ex army strapping. Or you could just use it as a grab and go. If u stick a 24" stick up the side with "toggles" you can wrap the hose in a fig.8 fashion and undo it whilst on your back.

Hi Jeff,it`s made by Silverline,if you look at the pictures you will see i have left the sides open and got access panels to fit and the battery and pump have got click connectors so i can disconnect them and my battery charger has got the same connector so i can charge the battery,i am going to fit a couple if hose hooks so i can have a bit of extra length hose as i am going to be using more as a "grab and go" more so than a backpack but will see which works best
the Shurflo pump is a 1.0 gpm,Gaz

I measured my 60 psi at around 8 litres per minute; but I think Gaz is using a vari-flow.

Some of the other users may have more experience of the bigger pumps as I use the smallest 35psi flojets. However when I first started I used the 60psi pump on my very first backpack 8 years ago, and it burnt out after 10 months. Thats when I developed a bypass system.
The way I see it is that the 60psi pump produces a lot of water but lower pressure and the 100psi pump less water but more pressure. This must have a bearing on if you use microbore which the pumps are not really designed for. Water in should equal water out but with microbore you are constraining the out put of the pump, hence my reccomendation of a bypass whether you use a variflow type device or not. You should never restrict the inflow side of the pump.
The futher you need to pump the more pressure you need (within limits) because of hydraulic friction, so for trolley users the 100psi may be the better option if you need to go further than say 30 metres.

It`s 99% finished,i`ve tried it and it works fine,i just need to fit an on/off switch,
i think i wll be using it more as a grab and go unit,it`s going to come in handy for a few jobs  ,Gaz
