Hi John, there’s some good threads on here about immersion fitting. You have to check back a bit.
What you need is :
*A mechanical flange ( this is what the immersion will screw into ).
- This is why you need to cut a hole in the tank, to accept the flange. Once the hole is cut ,you place the boss end (with threaded section in the boss, where the immersion element screws in) of the flange on outside of tank and you push it through so that the other part of the flange set-up, the washer, on the inside of tank, screws and holds the flange solidly in place.
*Hole cutter - can’t remember the size
, but I’ve got one if you want to borrow it.

*Decent cable that’ll take the 3kw.
I also used a waterproof sealant just to make sure!!
