Ok, changed transit custom battery, but what’s this wire?
« on: November 10, 2018, 01:13:16 pm »

Stupidly didn’t take a pic before replacing the battery.... now have no idea where this wire goes? I have a feeling it’s part of the heated seat electricals but can’t see where it would go?

Thanks in advance

Thing is daz, I didn’t see it come off the terminal, and no screws were undone for it to come out... i I onley loosened the clamp bolt slightly, so can’t see how it’s come off the terminal screws

That’s what I think/thought, but can’t find anywhere for it to go!

Hopefully someone with a custom will know...

It may well have gone to nothing , is the bolt hole marked up like its had a nut on it ?
My Fiat is basic model and i have stuff like that all over the van , they just use the same loom for all models , if some posh tawt like Daz dont have all the extra options then its left hanging  ;D
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

I think it’s part of the heated seat mate! Doesn’t looked marked up, perhaps your right, maybe it’s just there hanging!

The yellow wire  has the same bracket and green cylinder bit on it too , does that go to anything ?

Also , does it reach to the negative of the battery , if not then it dont go there !
If it where me I would see if the van and all the gubbins are working without that on and wait until you find out for sure , lots on here have customs so you will find out .
If you go and connect it to the positive and its meant for ground or negative you could end up frying something like your ECU , and you dont want to be doing that chief  ;D

Maybe the loose wire was the cause of the starting problem?

I’ll have a play around tomorrow, been out all afternoon (not in the van)

I think it’s something to do with the heated seat, but may be wrong, will try it out tomorrow!

Erm, yeah the battery seems to have solved it, but, funnily enough, I turned it over with the old battery before replacing it, just to see how bad it was and it started almost first turnover!  ???

So now I’m not sure it is the battery again!!

It wasn’t that cold though, so I’ll find out on a cold morning this week.

The old battery was reading 12.2 though, so I’m hoping it was the battery none the less. I’d left the van since Friday 1pm till around the same time today to get a better reading of the battery. Usually it’s only really left over night as I use the van most evenings for the gym etc.

Status Check

I doubt a yellow or red wire would go to the battery negative so I wouldn’t even try that.
If you don’t think it was connected before then I’d leave it off unless you find something isn’t working.

Thanks for the pic status check, unfortunately it doesn’t really help as yours doesn’t seem to have the same mystery part...

I’ll check how things work tomorrow and report back. I’m still thinking it’s something to do with the heated seat, but I’ll try that tomorrow when I take it out for a run

Remember that these things are built and then accessories are fitted so they have bits here and there just ready to be connected. Chances are it's for something you don't have. I've got a custom so I'll have a look under the seat and see whats there.

The normal things that connect under the seat are .....heated seat , airbag in side of seat , pressure pad within seat base , and seat belt stalk warning .

Offfff that's not easy to get into! Think I'll maybe give it a miss.

What spec is the first van and what spec is the second pic, that way you can suss out the accessories.
