Hi mate.....so you ve had your grippa hot system 4 years now is it?have u had to replace the batteries?

I'm assuming you have 2x105ah numax batteries and smart split charge relay the same as mine......

Also have u had to replace anything on your heater system in the 4 years you 've had it?

If your batteries are not holding their charge as well, it could be because you let them get too depleted when you first got your system.

I remember you were adamant they did not need charging each night because of your split charge relay. The heater takes a lot out of batteries, especially on cold nights when the frost stat kicks in a few times.

I'm glad this has cropped up as I am interested in amp draw of these things .
As far as I know so far , it takes 30 odd amps to fire it up then 8 amps per hour to keep it going ?

Is this correct does anybody know ?

Errr......there's nothing wrong with my batteries mate....they never go below 12.4 even at the end of the day(and I use an electric reel)with diesel heater on full blast all day..so the batteries never discharge lower than 20% of capacity.

Yes I have had it 4 years the batteries are 200 amps each I dont have anything from my system connected to the van electrics as renault said that it would invalidate the warrante when I had the van it was one of the first with kinetic charging and there wasn’t a charger on the market at the time for it . A mate of mine is a marine electrician and he did the charging system it is quite a sophisticated system and can be charged from the mains or by generator . My boiler system has not had any servicing in 4 years it runs 8 hours a day 5 days a week , it runs as good now as it did from day one . I have spoken to the nearest wabasto service agent to me and he said it doesn’t need servicing there is nothing to service , he said that when it stopes working it will need a new screen and pin that’s about it , he could easily have said it needs a service and taken money from me but didn’t so this tells me it doesn’t need servicing untill it goes wrong there is no point in changing the bits untill that happens . The batteries are again the original ones they are specialist batteries according to the company I got them off they are gell  and the lead plates are a lot thicker than a normal battery Ime hoping they will last at least 6 years time will tell , hope this helps

Thanks for the in depth reply mate......pure freedom also told me to just phone them up if I have a problem with the heater and they'll sort it as they are webasto specialists  but no need for servicing as there's very little to go wrong....

Yes with the anti freeze in it as well to keep the system clean

My coolant is pink in the header tank!I must admit I've never checked it....I'll take the front off my cabinet and have a look tomorrow as I'm having a pottering about day(due to late night tonight!).

I have noticed a slight coolant leak at the top of the tank where the lid is.....

Yes they all leak a bit around the headertank cap as it’s not a pressurised system I top mine up occasionally once or twice a year

Yea I get a bit of steam from the screw on cap after it's been running a while.

Never fill the coolant tank to the max. Only maybe 3 quaters full max

I had a look at the header tank and took a pic of it when I had it first installed......so I'll be able to see how much I've lost in nearly 12 months......

unscrewed the front of my heater cabinet and the header tank is fine(around 3 /4 full)....so ive lost a miniscule amount of coolant in 11 months..... ..not worth topping it up yet.....

i got it installed on 6th december 2017 mate so nearly a year old now!......time flies....
