POLES HOW MANY DO YOU NEED
« on: June 27, 2006, 07:53:29 am »
Guys I have read on the forum that guys are buying the facelift pole

and this is a very good pool, you can remove sections and use it at different heights, really goood

know look at this senario

you are on a job with your 30 ft pole and the wind catches the pole and it takes a smash, have you now lost your 18ft pole your 24ft pole and your 30ft pole, is it beter to go for a cheaper and have several spare poles. What about backup have you thought what if my pole breaks what am I going to do
I am not getting at the facelift pole as they are good poles, just an example

as I said above just a senario

but would be nice to hear what other wfps think

It all depends on how ready for action you want to be i suppose , if you think you can get by with the one pole go for it , as you will see , i like to be ready with a back up plan [ unlike Sven ] , i have a pole for every occasion , all 3 cost me about £500 , i did pay over the odds , shop about and you will get them at a better price .
If one breaks i use the other , ok the orange pole would be a right arm ache on domestics but at least i wouldnt be stopped !

I'm with Rich here, I have 2 poles, a 18foot and a 30foot pole, it's nice to have the re-assurance that if one breaks then you can still struggle on with the other until a replacement can be got.

If I had the money to get a carbon fibre pole I would still keep a 18ft glass fibre pole "just in case" something happens to the carbon fibre pole.

I ONLY HAVE THE ONE POLE.

THE POLES WE MAKE CONSIST OF DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF CARBON THAT CAN BE TAKEN OFF IF NOT REQUIRED.

IF YOU HAVE A 48FT POLE (6 X 8FT SECTIONS) BUT WILL ONLY BE WORKING AT 30FT, THEN YOU CAN TAKE OFF 2 SECTIONS AND LEAVE THEM ON YOUR VAN.

IMO YOU ONLY NEED TO HAVE ONE POLE (NO NEED TO HAVE A VAN FULL OF POLES!!!), HOWEVER I SUPPOSE IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO BUY 1 AS A SPARE AND DONT WANT TO GET CAUGHT OUT SHOULD YOU DROP IT THEN WHY NOT.

MY ADVICE IS ITS BETTER TO GET A GOOD QUALITY CARBON POLE RATHER THAN TRYING TO SAVE A FEW QUID ON A CHEAPER ONE, AS CARBON "WEARS" BETTER, IS STRONGER AND LIGHTER.

CARBON MAY BE TWICE THE PRICE BUT ITS TEN TIMES BETTER!
