It will be interesting to get people's thoughts here and hopefully help all with marketing decisions.

I don't think u would get much for your money on some with only a small budget, so would target van and move it about locally as much as possible

I've selected canvassing, but that oversimplifies it.
The canvassing would be carried out by me after 3.30PM or at the weekend and the £1k used to pay me (partly) in lieu of any windows I don't clean to due to doing that canvassing.
I reckon that I know better than anyone exactly what I want, so I would be the one to do it.
If I reckon £25 an hour for canvassing, that £1k would pay me for 40 hours in chunks of 2-5 hours.  I would reckon on picking up at least one customer per hour at an average of about £18.  40 x £18 = £720 and 8 times a year would mean £5,760 p.a.  Any dropping out would likely be balanced by walk ups.

i selected leaflets and i would get my 14 year old nephew to give me a lift targeting existing areas, obviously i would pay him a small amount for helping me,i would also put an advert in the local parish magazines and any local rags for that target area(with the same design as the leaflets),then i would canvass the leafleted properties 3 or 4 days later showing them the leaflet i dropped through a few days before....

spend the rest on sign writing the van and business cards(all matching logo and design as the leaflets)......
price higher/work harder!

With a grand out of  of those options I would go for a quality website or signage you might get both!...the work will come in slow but it's money spent on something that's gonna get business years to come...the rest wont!

Van signage as this can be done for less than a grand and use the rest on leaflets but delivered by myself in well to do areas and they can see the van at the same time.

with such a small amount ive gone for canvassing it'll have to be myself and use the £1000.00 as money could have earnt cleaning windows.other that then if you intend to spend it i would find someone who wants to work and pay him £10 per job should get you 50 cleans.would suite someone who wants to make some extra money on evenings.
