I can't see the Job order Button?

Ian I hope you had lots of sleep today ;D ;D

Hi Jeff,

The job order button is in the bottom right hand corner of the round screen. You can check the help files by clicking the Help icon in the menu bar and there is a section about job ordering under the rounds topic in help.

HI Jeff, Paul

I have just uploaded a fix for your sizing problems, if you exit and restart WCP it will ask you whether you want to install the updates. Click OK and your sizing problems should be fixed.

Let me know if you have any problems

Hi macc,

Thanks for the kind words and I'm really glad that you have been able to get it working so quick.

As for your question re: tasks within a certain job. This is one of the features that is due for development soon. For now the best way you can do this is add a job note to the job and ask it to print on the work list (the downside being you have to remember if you did it last time or not).

Once tasks is live this will mean you can add as many tasks per job as you wish and they will show up on the work list.

Hope this helps

Hi Gary,

Does make sense...yeah we decided from a managment and scheduling point of view that the frequency is set against the round. You are correct in saying that you would set up 2 rounds, one with a freq of monthly and one with a freq of fortnightly.

This way it will keep your sceduling in check

Hope that helps

Ian

hi ian will this always be the case as i would like to be able to put jobs rather than rounds as fortnightly please say no as otherwise i wont be able to use it and it looks good
i have got about 400 customers and 100 of those are monthly the other 300 are fortnightly , so you can imagine the problem i would have
number 2 on a street is on 1 round and number 4 who is monthly would have to be on another round

Hi Gary,

This was always intended to be the case but like I said before the software will grow based on the needs of you guys. I would really appreciate your input on how you would see this working?

My personal email is ian@windowcleanerpro.com

Thanks Ian

Hi Gary,

The biggest problem with this is that if you have 2 jobs in a round, one with a 2 week freq and one with a 4 week freq, how does the scheduling module display the correct due date. You will have a round with some jobs due and some jobs not due? In the case of WCP the round can be green (due this week) in the schedule module but contain jobs that are not actually due until 2 weeks time.

Is that acceptable? In my personal opinion I think this is unworkable. There is probably a way round (!) this and I think that if a little thought is put into it then it can be achieved. Ill have a thing over the next couple of days.

hi ian
let me know how you get on
george wasnt for me but if you look at their software they do it with a job frequency but their were other things that didnt suit me theirs and your software looks good, maybe a mixture of both would be ideal

thanx for taking the time to answer my questions and dont forget to let me know if you can find a way around it as i am interested

Hi Gary,

Thanks for taking the time to try out my software. I will certainly look into this and am positive that a solution can be found. Just out of interest why would it be a headache to have this scenario:

Round: Melrose Close - 4 Weeks
Job: Mr Smith, 1 Melrose Close

Round: Melrose Close - 2 Weeks
Job: Mrs Jones, 4 Melrose Close

On the schedule this would then show round 1 as due every 4 weesk and round 2 as due every 2 weeks? I'm not sure I understand from a business point of view why you would want to combine them?

Let me know your thoughts on this...

Hi Gary. How about this, the idea works.

Round - Melrose

2 weeks - 1 & 2 Melrose

4 weeks - 3 & 4 Melrose

Add round - Melrose, Nos 1 & 2 Melrose, freq 4 weeks, due date 1/6/06 (every 2 weeks sorted)
Add round - Melrose, Nos 1,2,3 & 4 Melrose, freq 4 weeks, due date 15/6/06.

They are still separate rounds but it covers the 2 & 4 week cleans.  ;)

The only problem with this macc is that you will get the first round displaying every 2 weeks in the schedule along side the second round i.e duplicate houses.

hi ian

This is one of the reasons I prefer to use a an ordinary database (and spreadsheet).  I have a field called interval.  The number (in days) I put in there is added to the date of the previous clean [lastvisit+interval] and the date of the next clean appears in another field called nextvisit.  When I need a list of work due, I ask for a report to display all work where  =NOW()-nextvisit>=0.  The final number can be altered if I need to see several days ahead or if I am running late.  I'm not knocking the Window cleaner pro product or George but if you spend some time (and errors) setting  these things up yourself, you can usually have more flexibility.  When a product is already off the shelf, there is a tendency to be dependent on what features the programmer includes.  However, where a programmer follows the feedback closely and adapts the program (such as W/C Pro or George) this need not be too much of a problem.

Morning The Shiner,

This is exactly what we intend to do  :) A program is only worth having if it fits the needs of the business model its trying to support. We have made our best guess at what features are to be included and as you have suggested the software will grow organically based on the feedback from customers.

I am already working on Gary's feedback and adding the ability to define the frequency as a multiple of the round frequency whilst still trying to maintain the integrity of the scheduling module.

Thanks for your feedback

Ian
