Probably the wrong time of the year to invest in a leaflet drop mate.   Just my thinking though.

How willing are you to participate in their distribution? How many do you have to go out?

A couple of options

Put an advert in Facebook asking teenager to work 3 hours on a Saturday & Sunday  then pick them up at a central point and take them to separate areas and drop them off, don’t let them go in twos or they will just bumble along talking to each other.  Make sure they have a mobile phone and pick them in half way through for a break, buy them a Mc Donald’s coffee and let them chat for 15 mins with the other kids then get them to do another 90mins (or 2 hrs)

Or

Find some non English speaking person who is desperate to earn some money and get them to Accompany you as you go around cleaning, they get out the van and put out leaflets you clean windows.  A good way to find them is looking for the people putting out the plastic charity bags they are always foreign and know people who need work ( write a note about what you want  and sign language them to put it in their pocket then get some one to translate it later)

Wait until at least April if I were you. Then royal mail is always a safe bet.

Have to agree, leafletting for window cleaning after the clocks go forward and daylights short, cant be the most cost effective time.  People have other things on there mind on the run up to Xmas, Saturday morning canvessing has to be a better option.

True, but they will also be looking for 1 off window cleaning in December as they have guests arriving. They will be desperate to find a window cleaner to provide them with a regular window cleaning service, but in reality, they will just want a one off clean.

So if Caleb Morley has time to accommodate these type of customers then he must make his efforts worthwhile by charging a first clean premium. Yes, they will use the excuse that your price was too high and they found a cheaper window cleaner so will no longer need your services or they can't afford it. If you had not charged a premium first clean price then they would have found another excuse to cancel your services anyway.

Over the years we have all seen it play out every year.  For us we just say sure, but, as we are full to capacity (which we are) and will only be able to clean your windows at the end of January. The change in fascial expression then gives it away everytime. Heads up to the windie who suggested this mode of response - it works a treat.

Same here , I tell people I’m not taking on any new customers in December and it’ll be January before I see to them. The custards that are serious about wanting it done regularly say no problem

Definitely wait until April. That said we’ve got 4 or 5 people doing around 15 hours a week. At the least they mean we replace the drop offs.

Everyone saying wait until April - do you do any advertising in the winter months?

And yes I do want to avoid people that only want a Christmas clean.

Cheers

Very little. I don't do any new customers whatsoever in December.

As above, we drop leaflets all year round. Less in winter though and usually stop in December for the month but if we still have reliable leaflet droppers we keep them going. It’s not easy to get long term ones.

I stopped using jog post 2 years ago as there service dropped big time. I use royal mail now as you know it gets done with them.

We dont spend money on anything we dont absolutly need between Oct and March so no spend at all on marketting or anything else. If there is 2 feet of snow for a month in Jan I would rather have more money in the bank. Also results drop in the winter so the money is better saved and spent in the summer months. Thats what we do.

I think it’s tricky one, should leaflets be put out in quite times.

Do people keep them on the notice board or in the kitchen drawer because they know they don’t Need it now but will do in the future.

Do leaflets have a cumulative effect at creating awareness and confindence in your company so they don’t keep the leaflet but the next time they get a leaflet they remember receiving one before, so have increased confidence in your company.

Wow I thought Lee you was big on  jog post!
Seems its all about royal mail now? do they skip flats and only target semis and houses you want like jog post did ? What would you expect to pay with Royal Mail and do they post your leaflet alone
