Hi Shawn.

I wouldn't touch a roof with a barge pole, You would have to scaffold the whole house, and for that alone it will cost you a few hundred pounds. there is no other safe way to do it.  Is it worth your safty for a couple of hundred quide?

Take care and good luck.

Just had a thought my roof gets covered in this moss stuff, but I have found that the rain does wash it off occasionaly.

I wouldn't touch a roof clean with a bargepole.

It's a specialised job best left to specialists.

If you did use a pressure washer you would have to start right at the top and work downwards.. and the muck, moss etc will go all over the gutters etc that you have already cleaned.

I know the temptation of making what might seem like good money isn't easy to resist at time but this is one that I would politley decline explaining that she should hire specialistst to do the job.

You could very easilly lose a good customer here if you are not carefull.

Sorry to pour cold water on this one.

Hi everyone.

I have been asked to clean customers roofs before but turned them down!

I have cleaned my own house which is tilled and also cleaned my grannys roof. (tiles)

The only problem with pressure washing tiles will be that you scim a couple of mm off the surface of the tile which could then become pouress and could leak.

If you do wash a roof you must spray or paint on sealent. I believe it's not cheap.

I would let your customer down, gracefully as Andrew said its a Job  for the Specialised team.

If you did it with Poles, you would still need Tower scaffolding, The surface of the tile is covered with a grit like substance, and by removeing this you open up all possibility's of future problems for yourself?

I don't think you would get a very good clean.
I have  also turned down these jobs, they look easy from the ground, but when your up on a roof its a different picture.

Only you can say yes or no to the Job, but please make the right one.

Good luck and all the best.

Contact a local roofer. Offer him the job and suggest that he puts your name out as recommendation too.

Look at www.copperridge.com or it might be .co.uk not sure and suggest that. Other than that I would not get involved but it is nice to pass on info as it looks like you are interested in your customer as opposed to just saying no thanks.

I dont know the name of the company, but have seen a van in my area that specialise in moss treament for roofs, will keep a look out and repost if i see them again, i think they are a national franchise, have a look in your local yellow pages although just looked in mine nothing listed. The guys are rite tho dont attempt this yourself, i was a roofers mate when i left school and it is very easy to damage the surface of some tiles.
It was this big.

not for the faint harted this job ,,,looks a right hard one for a starter ....i do a lot of roofs ,if you are doing it dont use a large lance as this will kill you our your staff ,copper ridge is ok but i would use it as a after sale as this will get you a other couple off hundred on the job and only work from the saftey off a roof ladder ..that way you dont break tiles  etc you can check out my site just click on the conservatory and go to faq and hit what is copper ridge  this will exp what it does  unfortuntly the e mail links are no longer in use  as i am going to change sites
and make sure you have this in your insurance  our it will cost a plenty to say you do roofs ....im ok  for now becase i have been doing them for years ,but  i shoped a round last year and was gettin quotes of twenty grand  so you would need to do a lot to make it worth your while ... www.monoblockcleaning.co.uk  yours shammy davis jnr
