I know the previous thread was locked, however after considering Walter mittys post, I would like to offer you a public apology.
It was indeed wrong of me to name you like that, you probably didn't deserve it.
As I said I know my flaws, one of them happens to be being outspoken and not knowing when to keep my mouth shut.

I will say this however, on public forums there will always be a difference of opinion which will lead to disagreements and arguments. If you want to talk brazenly on a forum then you need to grow a thicker skin and learn to take it back.
Honestly, you shouldn't care what I think of your work, it works for you and earns you money then that's what matters.
You will always get my "type " on forums,  you know, the ones that annoy the hell out of everyone else. Take everything you read on here, personal or otherwise, with a pinch of salt.

Marc you need to start growing some thicker skin if you want to actually build a business, threatening Lawyers just because someone said you splashed and dashed a house is pretty lame, sticks and stones....

you were the one who started this and came on a public forum to ridicule a customer who wouldnt pay an extortionate first clean price, we are not all sheep on here

Marc, it's "libel' not "liable". If you think you have been libelled my friend you are on a different planet- and so is your lawyer!! ;D

Chris has written exactly what he witnessed- you might not like that but he has spoken only the truth of what he saw to the best of his knowledge. With all due respect I suggest that you do not respond to this thread anymore- to save yourself!👍

Marc, many a times people on this forum have questioned the truth of how I say I heat my water for instance, when it's me that heats it and me that uses it.   People have questioned my quality because of my claims of how fast I can work whilst still delivering quality. It peeves me off sometimes and sometimes I get defensive, yet other times I laugh it off or at myself which a bigger person can do.   The point is, that people are entitled to their opinion and especially on a public forum.  Yes it's a public forum but is there anyone on here who is not a window cleaner in one way or the other. In other words, this is not a public forum for potential new clients to check out their potential new window cleaner.

We all have our bad days sometimes.

Maybe you both should agree to go back through the posts and delete all the ones you posted to help show each other a little respect.

Remember this forum is visable to read by all and sundry out there.

I bet if you both were to meet for a coffee you would get on like a house on fire and have a giggle about it all.

Life is too short. Enjoy it.

Ok.

Red mist and all. Lets forget it.

Like some have rightly said; its just a waste of time being negative.

Chris you have apologised.  I accept your apology.  I apologise too for being a handbad throwing diva. Im not taking legal action; that is just twattalk.

At least you all had something to enjoy.

It was quite interesting reading the slanging match on the previous thread that got locked  ;D
Isn't it easier just to double the price for a minging first clean to at least cover the extra time spent cleaning the windows.  First thing I ask any customer is if they want a one off clean or regular. If one off's I decline and recommend another window cleaner.

You just have to use your instinct and take every case on merit. I think most can suss a messer out within seconds. However, you sometimes have to view a first clean as an investment- do you really want to risk losing what could be a very good, long term account by excessively over inflating the initial clean price? Many actually pay to gain work to begin with and seemingly have no issue with this!!

I have been known to charge 2.5x, but do the fourth clean at a discount to give part of it back.  That seems to cover the bases for me and them.  Even if they cancel after the fourth clean, I've made enough on the job to feel that neither party has lost out much.
That wouldn't cover this instance though where they effectively wanted a low-cost trial.

I take a chance on every new customer that wishes to be regular, some customers lie to your face and mess you around, hence why I ask upfront if they are wanting a one off clean i.e. end of tenancy clean hence charging double if frames are black to cover extra time at least. At least I pass the chancers on to new window cleaners who are prepared to take a chance on dodgy customers

I never ask new customers if they want a regular clean. That way I don't give them the opportunity to say what they think I want to hear, so I always assume it's either a one-off or ad hoc clean. I don't charge any extra for a first clean either. The reasons I work this way  are to give the customer the chance to see the quality of my work at a non-inflated price. I also see it as 'investing in the customer'. If they are happy enough with my work and the value for money it offers, they may then propose a regularly scheduled clean. I'm happy with all scenarios as they give me plenty of work with plenty of variety, and I have a good core of regular (turn up and clean according to agreed schedule) customers who have come to me in the way described above.
