Just hit a big number today
« on: August 17, 2018, 11:33:46 am »
40....years old!!

It feels like things have just got real, time is precious and now it's time to make every day count. It really is time for me to build a business that will see me through the rest of my life.

I feel a sense of urgency come over me today, who knows how much time we have left? All I know is 40 of my years have passed, I'll never know how many are left, one thing I am sure of though, it's about time to really knuckle down and make things happen.

Whatever it is you want to do life, for Christ's sake get on with it right away. I wish I had years ago! Never mind , it is what it is and there's no point looking back, there's no point worrying about the future.

All we have is today, enjoy it and make it count!

Hope it all goes well Paul. Just remember its always easier to put things off for another day; and before you know it a month has gone by and your still in the same position you were beforehand. That month will easily turn into another year and decade etc.

In order for you to move forward; remember to stick to your plans and carry them out when you plan to do them; we all need to spend time with family and thats very very important.

So.. make your plans with your family and stick to them and carry them out; then make your plans for business and stick to them and carry them out. The two are not interchangeable or should be sacrificed for the other.

Lee really is worth going to see. I can tell he was genuinely impressed that you would come all that way to see him and have a chat. Opportunities like that do not come up often; and you may not get another.

Good luck. M8

Scary is 40  :o

I'm 37 this year, wheres it all gone...

You are right mate you better crack on, don't want to be cleaning glass everyday when you turn 50.

It's good to be scared, let it scare you and motivate you into action.

You have a decade to really make it happen imo whilst you are still able bodied!

Go for it, get it built asap and then relax.

A better way to look at it regarding your business life. You probably started work properly around 20 let's say you want to realistically retire at around 65, thats 45 years of work. So you have only been going at it for 20 years so your less then 50% of the way through...the world is still your oyster get cracking on your goal and you still have plenty of time to achieve it  :)

oh and happy birthday...dont look at it as oh no i'm 40 more like i'm so lucky to have made it to 40. From here on in tho the medicine cabinet does get bigger  ;D

I sense contradiction in your post.
Time to knuckle down and build a business or make every day count?
Just be happy. If building a business made you happy you'd already be doing it.
Get busy living.
It's my birthday tomorrow. I don't have a business, I go out, clean windows and I feel better for it.
I'll probably work tomorrow morning but that's not a business decision.

You old fart!   😂😂😂😂

I turned 41 in April which my kids take delight in telling everyone. But my Mrs is six yrs younger, so doing something right lol 😁

Forty was daunting and if I begin to feel negative than you can count the yrs away and feel fifty before you know it!   So snap out of it, haha.
Forty is great as your out the spontaneous and reckless years of the twenty n thirties and are a whole lot wiser now than before, especially with your business. No more novice mistakes and errors and mostly have learnt to read customers and not take no rubbish.   With that in mind, soldier on and make wise choices in your business and how you want to tailor it to your needs.

i agree with this nathan.....im 46 now(nearly 47),im nowhere near as reckless and stupid as i was in my teens,20s,30s......more stable and business oriented(but with an eye on a good work/life balance)...stable financially and reasonable good health.....

the only thing is i dont seem to have as much fun as i did in my younger years...i was the sort who always had 2 or 3 women on the go at a time.....i loved being a womaniser.......

wine, women and song........thats all i lived for.....but i cant get away with that type of behaviour these days.... :( ::)roll

Well i must be well on my way to my 2nd mid life crisis. My 1st early 'mid-lifer was when i was 28, and bought a 480bhp toyota supra twin turbo taking out attracive 22 year old somethings for a spin, and went clubbing for 4 days at a time for about a year and a half, that was when my 1st marrige broke up.

Now i am happily married; have two beautiful children and now a new found love of motorcyles; planning a trip to the TT next year on the Sprint RS 955i!

I think there are at least 4 or 5 opportunities for mid life crises over a mans lifetime.. happy days

Not that I was a womaniser, as I was married to my first wife from 22, together for 12 and three kids so I couldn't. But it didn't stop a little flirty innocent fun with the customers.  Yet it would look creepy if I did it now a days haha

Don't have time for a mid life crisis either.  Wife's ill n to have a break from kids I'm sat with phone on this forum whilst kids run about with loads of other screaming kids in a playzone 🤔😥😥
