guys
we're window cleaners
we went to a property today with a brand new, Indian sandstone patio, completed on one week ago.
Cost £14,000.  !!

I did notice how immaculate it was a week earlier when I was there to price.
So today,
we're there to clean gutters, soffits, facia and windows
on completion of our job we noticed some dark and light grey patches where we had been stood and working from
before we started the patio was immaculate - so could only have been caused by us,
genuinely have no idea how !!
we scrubbed it with flowing water and a stiff broom  - for ages,
made absolutely no improvement what so ever

can anyone help ?
can anyone clean this for us ?

The patio was NOT sealed

They were told too wait fot the salts to come out ?

No sealant

Plenty of ideas but all based on guesswork as I only have some photos.  However, the fact that the patio wasn’t sealed helps.  If it had been sealed properly with a good quality impregnating sealer I would have been less likely to be in a position to help.
Looking at those pictures and taking you at your word that the patio was immaculate prior to you starting your cleaning process I can only now assume that you have removed a lot of dirt and it has fallen onto the patio and been soaked into the stone.  So before I offer any advice please confirm the patio was dry when you were cleaning and this is a fair assumption? Is there any staining / run / clean marks on the walls?

that's the odd thing kevin
no runs or clean marks on the walls
and no noticeable problems under the facias, which we washed with a few hundred litres of water (tap and pure)

the stains are well out from the house, where we were stood working or left our poles stood upright leaning on the step ladder etc..
have thought it may possibley  be dirt from inside the poles that has trickled down !

So are you saying the Patio in the immediate vicinity of the house is unmarked?

never had something like this happen before in over 30 years cleaning !

Well from what you say the only way I can see is the water flowing through and over the stone then the dirt and salts seeping up through the stone but it doesn’t explain why the lot is not stained.  Try doing a small test area by prewetting one of the worst stones with water so it is saturated and then cleaning it with some PSRP Xtreme HDT&G cleaner
