Wondering what is the best backpack on the market at the moment?

Has the quality and reliability improved over the years?

The last ones I owned were the shurflo ones and the charging ability of those were crap as well as issues with the power setting buttons being a pita to reach and the tanks splitting if dropped or knocked over, so don't plan using those again.

We use the Gardiner’s ones for bad access areas/courtyards etc. Work great. We don’t put them on our backs. We just carry them by the handle & took off the strapping etc.

I think if you drop any backpack you risk splitting it especially the more water that’s in it.

Had a couple of the gardeners ones for ages work well and spares are cheep if needed can't fault them really for what they are

I've had a few down the years.  Gardiner Mk3 is the best I've tried:  more control over flow rate (switch AND dial), handle not built into the lid, and a standard plug and cable arrangement for re-charging.  My only nit is that the flow control is currently not working so it only works on full power.  It had a lot of use before that failed though.  On the odd windows where I use it, I just have to clean faster so I don't run out of water.  It's good exercise

gardiner V3 backpack is the best one ive used...i only use mine for chemical application these days.....

The gardiner ones are ok,holds plenty of water but I had trouble with the switch as it only works on full power,they did send me out the spare part free of charge  but  the bit that is soldiered has come away,I use univaled and the orange tube supplied with the backpack seems to expand.
All in all I would buy another one.

Iv had the Gardiners backpack for a couple of years , think Iv charged it a COUPLE of times in those years. But I only really use it once a month for about 10 minutes. Great stuff 👍

You can also use it as a portable shower when the weather is hot if you have the right connectors

v3 is great i use 1 every day, flow control tends to die after 1 yr to 18 month which is when it only works on full but few quid to replace.  i never used to use a filter cos my hose flipped out and sprayed all over on full but they've changed it for a deeper one so im using it again,   quality fills in 20 secs

The Kalbolt ones that John at Reach to Wash sells are bulletproof. On wheels too, I've had two of them for about 4 years and they've never let me down. Cheap as chips around £100.

Think we’ve got seven gardiner backpacks, I’ve changed three batteries, two pumps and one flow controller. We do a lot of work with them. Parts are cheap and easy to fix.

I had a shurflo when I started, the switch was underneath, really awkward.

Easier to build your own and that way you can adapt it to your liking. For instance, I opted for a slightly better battery, a 12ah rather than the usual 7ah battery.   I also opted for a 5.5 ltr per min pump and on a previous model I fitted a remote switch for on/off control.
 By making a pump/controller box yourself, you can tailor it to your needs and have a better understanding of how it all works, allowing you to fix any hiccups that come along

Gardiner back pack. Had it about 2 years. Bet I only charge it every 6 months, if that. Use it about 5 times a month.
Great but the lid and straps are crap
