took £83 in card payments today!....some customers love it!......its better than getting cheques! :)
why is it better than taking cheques . I take cheques and don’t get charged . Bank em online when I am checking customer payments that night . Plus they clear the next day . And no need to carry a card reader about..

i have to send my cheques off in the post now.it takes them around 4 days to get it then 6 working days to clear.i dont get charged but its still a faff....and if they get lost in the post i have to go back and get the customer to write another cheque! ::)roll

id rather take card payments if they havent got cash......most customers dont have cheque books anymore anyway......its just as quick(if not quicker)to whip my card reader out rather than waiting for them to find their cheque book, then a pen, then to write it out and ask me my name AGAIN! ::)roll

plus card payments clear in 3 days(no waiting up to 10 days for funds to clear),i save on envelopes too! ;D

Probably the same reason why people use streaming instead of VHS for movies and LP's for tunes  ;D :D ;D

Really . Or maybe some people like to get ripped off with there banking . A little research and I don’t pay a penny in bank charges . Cash , fine , online fine , cheques deposited online , fine. Clears the next day . If your custies can’t manage to pay by one of those methods , they are taking the mick . But I wil leave you lot to pay my banking charges and carry on collecting.

Also . Can’t remember the last time I had to enter a bank or deposit anything at a machine . But you carry on . Probably makes some people think they run a bigger business .

Hey Steven, when i accepted cheques, which i stopped last year, i had to go out of my way to the bank, to deposit them in the CashPoint, my bank doesn't offer online payment of cheques, if i can get parked is another challenge, plus accepting cheques
for large sums is risky, as there is no security or guarantee that it won't Bounce, which has happened in the past,
Cheques are on the way out, they are old hat, like dasmond said most people don't even possess a cheque book now,
most petrol stations now won't accept cheques, a lot of shops & retailers the same, so much shopping is done Online now, and paid by card.

The announcement by the Payments Council to begin the process of phasing out cheques by 31st October 2018, has brought payment methods for all businesses into sharp focus, prompting a new era for business transactions. Now is the time for businesses to seriously consider payment alternatives in order to be sufficiently prepared ahead of the proposed deadline. The eight year timeframe for the phasing out of cheques is more than adequate to allow businesses to research and adopt new solutions in order to make the switchover an easy and painless process.

So Daz, have you a business bank account? The FAQ's state that your business name and bank account must be the same.

I bank all our takings into my personal account once a week. No personal accounts will be linked to this reader.

The company name registered with SumUp must be the same as that listed on the bank account. Every company must have a company bank account to avoid payment issues. (Meaning personal bank accounts will not be accepted.)

If you are a sole trader there is no legal requirement to set up a business account. As a sole trader is the business no matter what the trading name is.

Only thing you need to do is make sure your sum up account name matches that of your account name.

Only time you legally need a business account is when you incorporate to LTD status.
