Doh, saw this thread too late hahaha as I wanted commission on sum up.
 ;D

The only thing I would add is that it works better if your phone has 4g compared to the older phones on the 3g network.

Little tip too to avoid teething probs. Make sure your phones location it turned on.   It needs it.

Also practice with your own card to see how it works.  Just take £1.00 test transactions and do it outside of your WiFi.

When I use my machine I aways grab it from van and turn it on straight away and turn on the mobile app. It will save time connecting when with the customer.

cheers paul...i dont use wi fi just my monthly  mobile data allowance(which is 5gb which i never use up!)....ive downloaded the app now to my phone.

so on the app do you fill in customers address in the description section, then the amount and press CHARGE and it connects to the reader? THEN the customer swipes the reader/OR inserts card and PIN and thats it?

i always have my bluetooth turned on on my phone anyway as i have it in both my car and van and phone location......

Hi Daz

Switch on reader. Then turn on app on phone.  Enter amount being charged on the app and then on the connect button.  The card reader will then show on screen to either tap card on screen or insert into slot for chip and pin. Then payment shows accepted on the screen.  Go back to phone and it to will also say payment successful.  It will then allow you to enter email or phone number from either manually or from phones address book to send receipt.

I always hand over the terminal for customer to hold and keep my phone screen visible to her.  All info will be shown on terminal screen anyway so does not matter too much.

It can sometimes take a short while after you enter the amount to connect to phone.    So just use the time to expain what the machine is doing.   If you turn on the machine early the connection process is fast.

Sum up will email you full instructions anyway so just follow it and have a play

Yes. Will automatically send it to your account about 3 days later minus the 1.69.%

They also email you a daily statement to show what's landed in your account for the day.  Also at the end of each month they email a full statement for your expense records.

On the app you can also see sales history of what's being processed and taken and paid.

You can also log into your account on your computer too.  Using your computer you can take payments over the phone too but the rate is a little higher for that method. Something like 2.99% but don't hold me to that.

Yes agree. A wonderful USP for you.

It's a picture when you see their faces when they claim they have no cash.  I say well no one has cash anymore that's why I have a card machine.

I have one customer who was amazed by the mobile reader and now uses it every month.  She even told me she had a moan to her local ice cream man as her grand child wanted an ice but she had no cash on her.  She told him he needs a card reader like my window cleaner has.   ;D

I use PayPal here, and whilst its not the most popular option; it is the fastest to get paid.

I can take payments from all credit/debit cards including AMEX and Diners

The money is in my business bank account the very second I take the payment from their card. Its really well worth considering.

Last month I  processed £1125 in credit/debit card payments and the total cost for collecting that was £31 so  2.75 % on average

most of us can wait a few days for payments to hit our bank accounts (esp if the percentage charged is lower)as the money is often not needed straight away.over the course of a year if your taking a lot of payments by credit/debit card the charges add up......

If you are looking to grow your business; and you have a few vans with card readers in them; being able to have the funds available in the company bank account the moment the jobs have been paid for when your staff do the work; that's the best possible cashflow you could ask for.  Thats better than BACS, DD, CASH; its better than the lot m8.

Nothing wrong with waiting 3 or 4 days for payments to come through. But running a LTD company with payroll and staff your CASHFLOW is the highest priority especally for growth.

Fab. Great news.  I was expecting the usual teething probs by you hehe.  Only kidding Daz.

It's an absolutely fab tool to have. Even if it's there as a back up for the odd payment or two.
